Re: HyperCard importing

My rapidly failing memory is trying to remind me of a discussion I heard about this, although the details are pretty hazy... I think the ability to open Hypercard directly went away with v7 and above. The solution seemed to be to open it with v6 and clean up before saving it now as a new LiveCode st...

Re: Copying Mac .app to Applications folder

It could be a permissions thing - the Mac protects the Applications folder and requires sudo type access to copy or delete from that folder.

Re: Detecting Chromebooks

From left field again...

Is there any way that you can identify them based on the screen rect? Are they bigger or are they a specific aspect ratio that you could get at runtime, and then disable the scaling routine?

Just throwing it out there...

Re: Exporting text from LiveCode in iOS

Another idea worth throwing out there is the use of Dropbox. If you set up a Dropbox for the project with a unique email and login, you could then have your LiveCode app save a text file of results (with a unique name on each device so that you don't get duplicates) and then use the code to upload t...

Re: My Beetle has a Mental Problem

BOUNCE.livecode.zip So I've been reading old stuff and this caught my eye (like the maze problem) so I downloaded it for a look. After an hour of intense noveau gestaltic psychotherapy, I believe your beetle has had a breakthrough... it now backs away from the walls it hits just a little bit more s...

Re: GLX2 script editor released for Revolution

Add a preference toggle or even a radio button that allows the user to set the default editor to GLX2 or IDE. When the prefs close, the editor window is changed to suit the editor preference chosen. It's easier than that. Your preference is already saved. If you quit the IDE with the glx2 script ed...

Re: GLX2 script editor released for Revolution

Thanks - you make me feel better. I had noticed the colour changes and even discovered the right click to set preferences, but because nothing changed when I had a script open in the IDE when the colour changed, it didn't look like anything was happening. My suggestions: On first run, open the prefe...

Re: GLX2 script editor released for Revolution

Stupid newbie question but... How do you make it work? I put it in my plugins folder so that glx2ScriptEditor.rev and glx2Plugins.txt were at the root of the folder and then restarted LiveCode. I got the display bar under my toolbar, and when I chose glx2 from the plugins submenu, I could go through...

Re: Livecode Mailing List and Livecode Forums

I was subscribed to the Nabble daily digest for a year or two, and it was great for getting a background to LiveCode and seeing what people were doing and actively working at. Because it was the digest though, I was always 24 hours behind and effectively read only - it was too difficult to ask a que...

Re: Toasted on a grid iron

These things are a snap to build in a high-level GUI like LiveCode. It was a significant learning experience for me! I ended up re-coding it 3X as I changed the data structure and logic. But the whole goal of LiveCode for me is to stretch the brain and keep it active- success for this project! Don’...

Re: Toasted on a grid iron

Your mention of the machine learning problem in these old posts sparked my interest so I decided to try it out as a beginners project to stimulate my old brain. So here is what I came up with: Maze.jpg The maze can be resized but the mouse always starts at the top left and the cheese is always at th...

Re: Creating a Graphic via a Plugin

When I have been creating graphic lines, I also have to pay attention to the layer. The line was drawing and my points were there, but it was underneath other objects with a layer or 3 or 4, so I ended up putting an arbitrary 1000 into the layer property to pop it up to the top.

Re: Dead end with Memo game

Hi Gurki Your post intrigued me as a LiveCode beginner, so I decided to try something like that for my grandson. I have attached my finished version for you to take a look at. I changed quite a bit of their code because I added a few enhancements to allow various kinds of game play. Have fun and enj...

Re: array functions (length, sort, push, pop, shuffle)

All joking aside, that post on shuffling appeared last night EXACTLY when I needed it. I had a solution with nested loops and randomized lists, and this works soooo much better. It’s something that I never would have discovered in a million years. So I’m very grateful and thankful that old threads w...

You could also use ScriptTracker to take all the scripts out to text files and make the change in your favourite text editor...
