Re: Creating Parallel Texts

You could use the replace command again to search for all instances of 2 spaces " " and replace with 1 space " ". Depending on the text, you might want your code to do that 10 times, to get rid of all the double spaces. To get rid of the space at the beginning of the line, you could look at each lin...

Re: Creating Parallel Texts

I assume that you are going to have two fields side by side on a card, with your raw English text read or pasted in on the left, and the raw (French) text on the right. Your first processing of the raw text is to chop it into phrases based on punctuation? If so, you need to become good friends with ...

Re: Need some advice for my IT folks

Way over my head!

But having multiple engines in different places, keeping individual data stacks for each user and having an automated reader stack for the teacher are all still reasonable ideas.

Re: Need some advice for my IT folks

Glad to know I'm starting to get a feel for the big picture at least even though I feel like I'm lost in the weeds when it comes to the little syntax and dictionary stuff of LC! Actually, would the web engine actually work in this sort of scenario? Could you have the main program running on the web,...

Re: Need some advice for my IT folks

If I understand it right, if the student has a separate stack, it could act as a key that would identify them and as a wallet that would track their progress. It could be set up so that if you double click their stack off a USB key or what ever, the stack would start on the local machine wherever th...

Re: ASCII 10 is equal ASCII 13 (0A changed into 0D)

BBedit actually has preferences to deal with line endings and can write any of the 3 if you opt to go one way or the other. Being a Mac program, it does what it needs to do to show you the file on the screen, but it has intelligent reading and writing for dealing with files from disk. Check your pre...

Re: Open a folder in the finder.

Silly newbie question, but is your path delimiter set correctly? Does your assembled completePath variable look correct if you put it into the message box before launching?

The script was posted over in the Game Academy forum where all the discussion about the course is taking place.

If you haven't got this sorted out already, you should go over there.

Excellent Ken.

Thanks for your work on this. I've added this to another thread over in the December Academy forum where all the brand new newbies are hanging out right now while the course is on.

Re: Visual effects delay...

I seem to remember from back in the Hypercard days that people would do things to pre-cache the card so that transitions would work smoothly. On opening the stack, you could lock the screen, then go to the second card without a transition, go back to the first card again and then unlock the screen. ...

Do you know that there is a Games development academy taking place right now - week 4 of 7 lecture is going to happen on Tuesday the 10th of January? http://www.runrev.com/game_academy/index.html has the details for you. Hi Ben

New user in the December Academy course just starting out with Livecode on a Mac and interested in iOS. I'm in Calgary too - Renfrew area in the close in NE. Would be interested in meeting for coffee if you get this.

Re: Why so many spam message in the forum ?

Is there any way we can clean up our user names? I would really like to go back to being plain old kdjanz the way I am every where else.

Thanks

Kelly
