Re: Looking for a volunteer tester...

I don’t think the Curl trick is going to work anymore. Shortly after installing Catalina, I moved an app from one of my machines to another over my LAN and got the same message and had to do the right click open as if it had come from the big bad internet. I believe Big Sur is going to be more so, s...

Re: Looking for a volunteer tester...

Yes that worked as well as can be expected in Catalina. A standard double click said I couldn't run it as usual, but a right click choosing open leads me to this dialog Warning.png which might be scary for some clients, but allows me to run it successfully. Having done that once, it opens with the s...

Re: Looking for a volunteer tester...

10.15.6 (19G73)

I tried Richmond's version, and could open it using a right click as well, with the app and button working.
The right click to open is required for any app that is not "signed and stapled" I believe.

Re: Looking for a volunteer tester...

Hi again. Tried the new link and downloaded and unzipped automatically and successfully. Again however, Catalina would not let me run it. - Error message- "The application “testInterface.app” can’t be opened." Interesting side note: When I did a get info on it to see if there were sufficient permiss...

Re: Looking for a volunteer tester...

Hi bogs I'm on Catalina, so I thought I would give it a go. I tried to download the file but could not get it. First, my computer took me to Dropbox and automatically unzipped the file to show me a folder with a .app filename. So then I right clicked the link to Save as... the file directly, but tha...

Re: Can you run LiveCode or Standalone from a USB?

The local Dropbox on each device is kept synced automatically, so I work with what I have until I get back in range and get back to other devices. So far, the longest ‘outage’ was a two week trip to Africa where my connectivity was spotty and slow, but I had what I needed on the devices I was carryi...

Re: Can you run LiveCode or Standalone from a USB?

Nope. I keep all my files and my preferences/plugins etc in a folder on my Dropbox, so my environment is always there on any of my machines. Only the app itself is on the hard drive.

Re: BBEdit

Nope . The old dropbox links for James Hale and Kay C Lan are no longer working. Could I get a copy of your plist file then?

Yes Thierry is taking his time.

Re: BBEdit

Jacque - could you please tell me where to go to get a LiveCode plugin for Bbedit? I would love to have script colouring working in it.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Adding XML Child with ID

Look up the XML library in the associations section in the left pane of the dictionary window. If you click on XML Library, it will filter all the XML properties and commands for you so that you can read about the command revXMLAddNode which I think is what you need. I'm just a beginner too and have...

Re: Difficult find and replace problem (for me)

Yes, regex comes with great power and great responsibility. It is a power saw on steroids that runs on 1000 volts that can do almost anything is the right hands. But the learning curve is vertical - at least for me. https://regex101.com is a website where you can paste in a bunch of your own search ...

Re: Forum etiquette

As someone who is reading a lot of old threads these days, I'm with Sparkout. Finding a final post with a summary of what the working solution was (and thanks to the contributors!) is pure gold and worth adding to the canon of Tricks and Tips that I'm noting for my own use.
