Issues with the IDE

All of a sudden, I cannot click on individual items in the Application Browser. I can still call up the Inspector from the menu and then use the arrow to navigate to other items but it certainly isn't as convenient. I checked the Prefs without seeing anything, then deleted the Prefs file from the Li...

Re: Layers, groups, and clicking.

I believe if you lock the overlay fields they will ignore the clicks. Leave your real field unlocked so that it still works.

Hope this helps

Re: I Need help

I believe that the discussion was in the context of Galactic Gauntlet. It uses about 40 pieces for the lower terrain, 40 for the upper foreground and you can have 40+ enemies on the screen, so each frame needs to check 120+ intersections if you brute force it. By using selective IF statements to qui...

Re: Unit Testing: another view

Ran across this thread while replying to another one and was intrigued. I first heard of unit tests in Rails - a standard part of the environment there. How does this apply to LC? Since scripts are scattered through different objects in the stack (or stacks) where would you put the unit tests? Would...

Re: LiveCode To App Store

You need to become an Apple developer:
http://lessons.runrev.com/s/lessons/tags?tag=Apple
Or search Apple.com
You also have to have downloaded xCode so that you can create and test standalones, so you should go to the App store for that.

Re: Artificial Intelligence FYI

It was an online course, so I would look for it in iTunesU. Either in the podcast section or via the new app.

In the Game Academy forum David posted a link to the code you need:

That's the forum where game talk is mostly taking place.

Re: Photoshop replacement for Mac?

Pixelmator is very reasonable & has just come out with a new version. The style and workflow is very similar to Photoshop but very Mac like too - unlike GIMP.

Re: Scale or zoom on stack for visibility

Unfortunately, Apple disabled AppleDisplayScaleFactor in Lion and it no longer works for any program. I can't find any hints on what it might of been renamed or where it's hidden now.

I'm surprised we didn't hear about this from the team. Maybe they don't even know about it?!?

Award for LiveCode?

I was just poking around in Dr. Dobb's website http://drdobbs.com/joltawards/232301291?pgno=4 and noticed this: Jolt Productivity Award: RunRev LiveCode 5.0 Based on the venerable Hypercard, which begat Supercard, LiveCode uses the same card stack idea for developing application forms as well as con...

Re: Bouncing off a line

If you look at the Academy video that dealt with intersections (Week 3 I believe, just before Christmas) you will see how the rocket detects collisions with the asteroids or the ground. That will give you some background If you look in the December Academy forum you will see some scripts that deal w...

Re: Saving preferences vs (or in addition to) saving data

Brian

Your scripts seem to have been cut off in the middle of the switch. Could you either zip them up or put them in a simple stack so that I make sure I get the whole thing. I'm about to embark on this journey any there seems to be a clear trail to follow here.

Thanks

Re: script edit return constant

I think what you want to do is to now

Code: Select all

put return AFTER field 1
...
put divisor & return after field 1
After will put it at the end of the field and create a new line, then you can display your divisor on the next line and continue on that way.

Hope I'm understanding correctly,

Kelly
