Hi Steve, "Can't find handler" means exactly that: the interpreter cannot find a command (aka 'message handler') by the name of 'revexecutesql' To execute SQL queries that modify the database contents (such as INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE), you can use either the 'revdb_execute' function or the 'revSQL...

Hi Steve, You're going to have to dig in and learn the SQL language: - use SELECT to find records - use INSERT to create a record - use UPDATE to modify records - use DELETE to delete records For an introduction to SQL, see: - http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp - http://www.quartam.com/tutoria...

Hi Steve, While you cannot directly connect to MS Access databases from Revolution, you can use Rev's generic ODBC driver to connect to a Data Source Name (DSN) that you setup in the ODBC Control Panel of your Windows computer. Think of a DSN as a shortcut that you can reference by name. So to conne...

Hi Pali, The VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection basically makes your computer act as if it was physically on the remote network. The network administrator forces you to go through VPN because of security issues, and has closed the MySQL port from outside access. While you can't directly access...

Hi Markus, My apologies for the late reply, but I was on holiday for a little over 2 weeks. In an older version of Rev, I was having problems with connecting to PostgreSQL databases on MacOS X 10.2 Could you open the 'Console' application (in your Applications folder, in the Utilities subfolder) and...

The name of the database type shouldn't be case sensitive, but you might try put revOpenDatabase("postgresql","dbserver","statistics","view","secret") into tConnectionID answer tConnectionID Also make sure you can connect to the database using some other SQL client, as in rare cases you get the 'inv...

Audioclip supports a limited number of audio formats, and MP3 is not one of them. Create a player control, set its filename to the file path, and then use the 'start' command to start the player. Once everything works properly, you can move the player control off-screen, if you like. Hope this helpe...

Hi Tim, You can write a keyUp handler in your card script, and react to what the user types. Here's something to get you started: --- script local variable declarations local sFindString local sResetMsgID -- engine message handlers on keyUp pKey put pKey after sFindString -- use 'send in time' costr...

Hi James,

In version 2.7, this information moved to a more logical location: the learning center and its videos + PDF files are accessible from the documentation window - in the Getting Started' tab.

Hope this helped,

Hi Kris, The 'revOpenDatabase' function expects a fifth parameter for MySQL connections to indicate whether or not the connection should use SSL. So try the following. put revOpenDataBase("MySQL","localhost:8889","testdb","user","password",true) into tConnectionID answer tConnectionID If the answer ...

Just thought I'd add that this works on Intel Macs as well.
Same problem with libdl.1.dylib but I can connect to the MySQL database on localhost, so all in all not too much of a hassle.

I'd still like a new cgi-engine with installer though ;-)

Alternately, you can store the messageID that is put into 'the result' when you use a 'send in time' construct, and 'cancel' that when someone picks a choice. So you would have something like this in the card script. local sMessageID on StartQuestion -- setup everything for the next question -- ... ...

Hi Tony, My first idea would be to copy the customPropertySet into an array, as you have done. Then display the keys of that array in a field, and whenever the user deletes one, delete that item from the array. Finally, update the customPropertySet with the data from the modified array. Some pieces ...

Hi Reinhold,

While I had some issues with altSQLite (the older version, not altSQLite3) on Win2K, it has worked fine for me after the upgrade.
Could you post the script here (minus the registration code, of course) - as well as the erorr you're getting back from revdb_connect() ?
