Re: Answer function

It is - actually. A ‘put the target’ message I put into the mouseUp handler in the closed stack to intercept it shows that the target was button “Yes” if that was pressed, or button “No” if that was pressed, so that shows conclusively it was coming from the Answer box. No doubt. But the question is...

Re: Program Deployment

I'm assuming in that work context you can expect some periods without connectivity, is that correct?

I have a stack separate from the main stack but I associate it by ‘start using’ on startup.
Which system messages are handled in that library?

Found it! The 'answer' box buttons were triggering 'mouseUp' code in an associated (but 'closed') stack, which was interfering with the main stack.
How?

Re: Program Deployment

If concurrent editing possible? If so, how would you handle the scenario in which two users each download the data in one state, but each make changes to the data the other doesn't have? Would the last person to upload overwrite the changes made by the first? This is a classic groupware problem. Exp...

Re: Answer function

The answer command is very commonly used, and indeed it's working well elsewhere in your own program. Clearly there's an interaction between that and other code around it. Without seeing the code it will be close to impossible to diagnose.

Re: Answer function

If answer works in one place but not in another, I'll bet the problem lies with other code in the place it doesn't work.

Re: Stupid question on the use-list

My question is why doesn't a field need that, or rather, why does message absolutely need it? Message Box contents are not handled via the same mechanisms as other means of putting contents into fields. The Message Box contents are driven by messages. This was added several versions ago to facilita...

Re: Stupid question on the use-list

The Message Box contents are driven by messages. This was added several versions ago to facilitate alternative message box UIs and debugging tools. Being message-driven, it will show updates at idle. You can allow messages to be sent in the middle of other processing by adding the "with messages" cl...

Re: How can i save the workflow in stendalone application?

All operating systems prevent executables from modifying themselves. So maybe the better question might be: how do applications save data? We see that they save data to a variety of special folders, depending on what the data is, such prefs files, documents, and other application data. LiveCode prov...
