Corrupted icons and OSX video playback

Hi. I just started experiencing the same problem on my iMac G5. In one of my searches I found a post that points to faulty capacitors in the video card as a problem. http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-102724.html This is not the first hardware problem I have had with my iMac G5. I rec...

checking file busy/in use status

I am trying to figure out how to determine if a file has been opened by a revolution standalone so that another user running the standalone on a networked Mac won't be able to open it and edit it. The files I am using are xml files. I have tried to use the lsof file command using the terminal but it...

Oh I see how that works. If there is just the one type in the command it will not show anything in the file dialog. if I have the two types then there is a pull down menu called 'Enable:' with the two options, in this case 'Description' and 'All files' Thanks to both of you for your help on this. Ma...

Thanks for the quick reply. One further question about the type values. The first value you put is 'Description'. What is this used for and what should you put here. I did not see the word 'Description' anywhere in the file dialog. Is this text that I use to describe the type of file or is it a pred...

'answer file of type' not working on Leopard

I am developing an application using Mac OS X 10.4 and am now testing the standalone on Leopard. My application has its own document type and the following code doesn't work in the standalone running under 10.5. (It works fine in Tiger) answer file "Select a file." with (the pdefault folder of stack...

The 'always buffer' was already false. I tried turning that on just to see what would happen and the movie would not even play.

Mark Maybe I am misunderstanding how permissions are reported. Here is the scenario I am working with. On the Mac I have 2 users for example Teacher and Student. I am logged in as Student. I have read only access to the Teacher>Public folder but read and write access to Student>Public folder. If the...

Thanks Mark I can use the detailed folders command to find out the owner's, group and others access permissions are but on Mac OS X I can't find out who the owner is so I can't determine what the current user's access permissions are in relation to that folder. I took another approach and used an ap...

QT player resize redraw issue

In my application there is an option to change the size of the player while a movie is loaded in the player. There is an intermittent problem with the screen redraw when this is done. The frame from the original movie remains on screen. Sometimes when going from a larger size ie 2 x original size to...

Check write permission of a folder or file

My stack saves data to an xml file using put revXMLText(theprojID) into URL ("file:" & theFileName) If the user opens a file from another user's shared folder then makes changes to the file and saves it does not work since they don't have write permission for that folder. Is there a Revolution comma...

Thanks for the tip. I managed to trap the rawkeydown messages and have them change the player's current time by putting the handlers I have listed below in the player's script, but, now when I scroll the mouse wheel up and down the slider in the movie controller moves accordingly but the movie does ...

Player step buttons change to slider with control key down

When a quicktime player is in a web page you can click on the step buttons while holding the control button on the Mac (or alt key on windows) to get a slider that will allow you to move back and forth in the movie. I can't get the player object to do this in revolution. This also worked in Hypercar...

control player object with mouse scroll wheel

I was wondering if there was a way to make a player object receive the scroll messages from a mouse with a scroll wheel or from a two finger scroll gesture on a Mac Book Pro track pad. The Quicktime Player application and a quicktime player in a web page does receive these so you can scrub back and ...
