[SOLVED] Icons and scrollbar with Android

Well, problems solved... In terms of the icons, I was talking about the built-in icons. I guess those images need to be copied, but I never figured out how to do that. So, I made a new set of icons which I imported as controls. It works, and actually my icons are nicer :-) In terms of the scrollbar,...

Re: Android and Unicode

Well, after help from this forum and a lot of trial and error, I have solved the Hebrew problem! For anyone who wishes to know what you need to do: 1. Find the original font file (.ttf). Do not take the file from C:\Windows\fonts because for some reason, even though the fonts look like they are stor...

Re: Icons and scrollbar with Android

Yah, that is a super easy work-around. Why didn't I think of that? :D

Do you have an idea of why icons do not appear in Android? Unfortunately, I have used icons quite a bit, and don't love the idea of changing them all to graphics.

Re: Icons and scrollbar with Android

Hmmm.... I have been using it as a progress bar, not as a scrollbar. But interestingly the LC dictionary does say it should work with Android. Other ideas for a progress bar?

[SOLVED] Icons and scrollbar with Android

As I battle getting Hebrew to display on Android, I was wondering if anyone has insight into how one can get icons and scrollbar to appear on an Android standalone? I assume there is an inclusion I am missing (although I said that for Hebrew, and it seems way more complex than that). I wish there wa...

Re: Android and Unicode

I believe fontLanguage is a function. I cannot figure out how you set the fontLanguage. When I call on the function, it tells me that all of my fonts except one are ANSI. Which I guess should be fine? But just to see what would happen, I changed the font to a weird Hebrew font. No luck. Even odder- ...

Re: Android and Unicode

So, Richmond62... I appreciate your efforts! Unfortunately, putting the stack you sent on Android only highlighted the problem. For one thing, you cannot see the Hebrew typing in the top field. Still, I typed blindly אני אוהב גלידה (I like ice cream). But most troubling... none of the decodings put ...

Re: Android and Unicode

First of all, thank you! I appreciate the ideas. I am way out of my league when it comes to writing a manifest file. I didn't even know there was such a thing and would not know how to go about making one. I would try to figure it out, but really, from the article, that seems to be more about suppor...

Re: Android and Unicode

Right, I get something meaningless, and strangely, only a few characters long when the original is several lines long.

I will try posting in the Android Deployment area -- thanks for the idea.

Re: Android and Unicode

Sleepy indeed -- cute! Yes, not RTF-8, Should be UTF-8 -- a typo. In any case, I read in a UTF-8 encoded message from a database and use textDecode to then place it in a field. It works on desktop but not on Android. function tidyD qID,colName put revDatabaseColumnNamed (qID,colName) into tNam put t...

[SOLVED] Android and Unicode

I am working on my first Android App (as some of you know from my previous post :D ) My latest problem that I am stuck on is that Android is not displaying Hebrew text. I use encode and decoding RTF-8 to store and recover from a mySQL database and this works well on the desktop versions. But, for so...

Re: First Time Android Woes

So, it turns out that there is a check box to allow the internet on the Android settings page. Who knew? (OK, that's why I post on the absolute beginners page -- clearly so newbie, no thought of asking this) Only discovered this after searching the forums for a while and coming across a 2011 post on...

First Time Android Woes

Building an app for Android for the first time and having the expected newbie issues. Hoping the amazing community here can help. Problem 1: I am trying to access a mySQL database. (Works fine in developer mode) Searching previous questions leads me to understand that I need to include a mySQL exten...

Re: First time on web... not so good

- the graphics are all weird. It looks like a screenshot, not a native app. Yes, they tend to be pretty ugly, and if you want anything different at the moment you need to do a lot of "aesthetic" work. What do you mean by "a native app" in the context of something in a browser? I don't think it is r...

Re: First time on web... not so good

Yah, I know. I thought about it. But it is for young kids, and often sites do not obscure their passwords for a variety of reasons.

But... anyway, the web app actually does not work. Is there a problem opening a database from a web version of the app?
