Re: textDecode/Encode problems

Klaus, you are doing this for 17 years? OK. ))) What is wrong then with me for one of the variants? The only difference I can see is that there is a "C:/" in front of my path (created an absolute path). Just also tested again. I will also test again, otherwise, edit my post... I hope you are right !...

Re: textDecode/Encode problems

Klaus: get URL ("file:" & "C:/.../test.txt") put " some text " into URL ("file:" & "C:/.../test.txt") Well, yes, in the comment to my script I have addressed the issue. I still do not understand why it would not work. In my case, it works as I am putting all into one variable. I found out through te...

Re: textDecode/Encode problems

Klaus: When it comes to read/write to really BIG files like logfiles of some hundred or even more MB, then "open/read/close file..." is the way to go, since you have more options e.g. to read only for a couple of lines or whatever. Yes, and I learned that for really big files it is not possible to r...

Re: textDecode/Encode problems

Yes, helping comment. Thank you very much ! (These are best practice hints!) I just continued testing. I will also test big data and see where and when the problems appear. In this special use case, I found a work-around, but it is not a generic solution, unfortunately. 1. Reading the Google .csv fi...

Re: Arrays vs Lists ?

Thank you, Richard. I will do this to identify the problem. Working with LC9 dp6 still from time to time leads to unresponsiveness and crashes at different times and occasions, and it was not possible to repeat using the same scenario, and I must admit, I am also a lazy guy and just want to continue...

textDecode/Encode problems

I am using Windows 10, LC 9 dp6. As officially suggested, working with outside files, the textEncode () and textDecode () functions must be used. After some testing, I do not know how to solve my current text encoding and decoding problem. As a text editor, I am using the latest version of Notepad+...

Re: Arrays vs Lists ?

Yes, interesting discussion you pointed to from last year. I have to expand the idea myself more. Arrays look more elegant somehow, but are not that obvious as lists.

Thanks a lot!

Arrays vs Lists ?

Currently, I am working on a little demo app trying to figure out the advantages or disadvantages of uses lists or array. WIth "lists" I mean simple structures blocks of text written to memory and accisable using simple chunk expressions ("item x of line z of myVariable"). Here I use a return-tab de...

Re: Controlling the inverse color of selected text

So, here is a new version - and this is all for beginners !!! I am learning myself. There are little changes, but I have put two buttons that would usually be hidden (or their script to be called through some other mechanism) setting behaviors. Look at their script. Some additional small refinements...

Re: Outerglow of fields

FULLY AGREED that also text should have this effect as it gives additional depth. I know that such effects should not be overdone though. But good to have. Soooooo .... ) Here I need something different. Ideally we have full control of many more such details. There are a number of additional ...

There is no "separate control" and if you want to talk about mimicry let's get down and dirty and examine the hail jingbang anent the GUI metaphor and why it has caught war harns tae the extent that we cannae tak tent o naethin else either ahind or abune that. Re: Outerglow of fields

You are right. I only tested with opacity = false. So my background is transparent. I did not even think to make it opaque. Nevertheless, even then I would like to have it work the way expected and not using a separate control to mimic this effect. Thanks for all the comments... working ))).. Hans-H...
