Re: Indy Users Can't Use Community Code, Share Code or Buy C

True Richard, but LiveCode does monitor these forums, and this affects everyone. Besides, on the email list I was never given permission for my post (2 days ago) to appear by the moderator and got no reply as yet from LiveCode. Our interpretation stems from OUR counsel. His advice was to avoid commi...

Indy Users Can't Use Community Code, Share Code or Buy Cod

My objective here is to be told we are wrong, and posted here because the answers affect all LiveCode users, possibly even the future of LiveCode. It is a legitimate concern and question, and we like to see some public elucidation. (This has been discussed on the email list, including by users whom ...

Re: LC versions

We are days into this thread, and the PDF read and rendering capability is actually there, but no one else knew? (we never found it - and I mean WITHOUT requiring use of the browser)) BUT, that is NOT the crux of the issue we have - the crux is this new trend towards making features (what we could c...

Re: LC versions

To start with PDF! lol :-) Got another wonderful reply from LC today: "We cannot please all of the people all of the time. It is unrealistic to expect to. Being blown about by individual requests for differing things is also not a good way to operate. We do our best to provide what the majority of o...

Re: LC versions

I finally heard back from LC in response to several (about a dozen) emails I sent about the "business-only features" where we relayed many of the point people have raised here. Their reply was less than helpful and ended with " . . . If our tool/licensing does not work for you, and another one is be...

Re: LC versions

I FOLLOW the logic that bills need to be paid. That is why we contributed to the fundraiser, and why we are an INDY license. But the logic FAILs when you make it EXCLUSIVE to the most expensive "paying" option. I OBJECT severely to the PDF being ONLY available to Business license. PLUS being emailed...

Re: Advertising on Android

mobileAdCreate only seemed to work for Apple as well.

One hopes the new widget works both multiple vendors, but also both mobile platforms :-)

Re: Can't Turn Off LC Backdrop

It has re-broken I am afraid. :-) LC behaves flaky (on windows) when backdrop is up. You can turn it off in view, but it re-appears every time at the start of LC. There is no setting for "no backdrop" in preferences, and the "reset preferences to default" button does not reset anything, as near as I...

Re: Hiding and un-hiding a Card & skipping when hidden

I did not realize accessing fields in LC was so slow. In Xojo and Delphi, it is extremely fast. So we would store entire pages of text in text fields. It actually created less overhead than variables. We also store text in labels on hidden screens. Have not tried custom properties as yet - seemed a ...

Can't Turn Off LC Backdrop

Ever since I turned on the backdrop in LC (to white) in Ver 8 DP 16 (on windows 8.1) it has been behaving erratically. But there does not seem to be any way to turn the backdrop back off! Even the "Restore To defaults" button does nothing. It is extremely frustrating. Joe C. IGNORE THIS POST - turne...

Re: Hiding and un-hiding a Card & skipping when hidden

I agree custom controls are a ...more elegant approach. We tend to use controls as a quick and dirty approach, and for images, because access seems to be a wee bit faster that way (depending on what you are doing)

So I am going to play with controls on a card in a hidden sub stack. :-)

Web Browser Widget Problems

Is anyone actually using the webbrowser widget successfully in an App? We tried using it (Windows 8.1 running LC 8 DP16) but got errors and weirdness. :-) 1st Loaded this "example stack" https://livecode.com/a-mini-web-browser-in-under-15-minutes-sample-stack-included and got multiple LCB errors as ...

Re: Hiding and un-hiding a Card & skipping when hidden

Thanks all for the suggestions. They are appreciated. :-) In non-hyperstack paradigms (such as Delphi) hiding windows is easy and common. It is a common practice to use hidden windows with controls (like a text box) to "store" lots of data inside the App (and avoid using resources or external files)...

Re: Livecode Developers for Hire

Confusion is indeed correct - why would an indy shop need a full recruitment service? I did point out in our initial email that we hired part-time, per project remote help, so one could see how we misinterpreted the response. Your public directory is a great idea, but it has all of 13 people TOTAL i...

Hiding and un-hiding a Card & skipping when hidden

This is not as simple as I thought it would be. :-) I have a card in a stack that I want to be able to hide when the App starts, and hide or unhide the card when certain conditions are met. When the card is hidden, I want navigation like next and back to skip the card. Was looking for a simple solut...
