Re: In Search of the Elusive Middleware Example

Hi, I'll not be able to help you much with the dreaded middleware - I'm no PhP coder, and use a helper to do the server side code. But I may be able to give some hints. Let's try. At first, Richard already gave a lot of good advice! If I'd have to do it all for myself, I'd use LC server, or, prefera...

Re: MySQL with EasyPHP

Hi, not sure if I can help, but I may be able to give some hints: 1.) The second parameter in revOpenDatabase("mysql", ...) is the URL ("mySite.com"). If "localhost" doesn't work you might try the equivalent "127.0.0.1". Maybe add a port: "127.0.0.1:3306" If this doesn't work, try the real IP of the...

Re: Retaining Backwards Compatibility in a Changing World

Hi, even if I'm by far not competent enough to judge in this case, I'd like to post a suggestion. To understand it, isn't it that we already have 2 lines of development? The "classic" 6.* line and the new "unicode & more" 7+ line? Why don't we just fork LC? Idea: 6.* is kept as-it-is as a common den...

LC-problems on Windows

Hi, 2 problems I encounter(ed) repeatedly both on a Win2K3-R2 server, and on my Win7-64 workstation, using LC community versions from the 6.* line (up to 6.7.1): When installing a new version, it can happen ( i.e. it doesn't happen every time! ) that the new version isn't registered properly. Means,...

Re: CSV files

Hi, Be assured, Richard, that I read your article - more than once actually, and once more before writing this! And I have to row back about my claim concerning LibreOffice, it actually uses "Comma" as the default delimiter. I have no Excel here, but my MS Access 2003 shows me this, after sta...

Re: CSV files

Hi, I think we're talking about semantics here. For sure, CSV isn't a standard. An RFC for it exists, but it doesn't seem to have ever reached approval. Besides this, the term "Comma Separated Values" is grossly misleading, because this would make it unusable for large parts of the world, where the ...

Re: CSV files

Hi, it may be a confusion of terms, CSV initially meant "Comma Separated Values" . But since this would make it rather useless, a broad range of text files containing table data separated with what-ever chars are also recognized as CSV meanwhile - for instance, the good old Tab-return format (TRSV?)...

Re: Insert DataGrid Data to MYSQL Database

Hi,

is it possible that you have a type mismatch problem? String/ varchar types with '' , numbers without!

I'd fire up HeidiSQL or phpMyAdmin, create an SQL string that works, and use this as a "blueprint" for the LC code - such can save much trouble ;-)

Have fun!

Re: php mysql help

Hi, [...] i tried without the double space but still the same. :( I had another look in your code and tried to rewrite it, maybe this helps: on mouseUp put field "uname" into tNam -- this be the string "sNam" put field "pword" into tWord -- this be the string "sWord" -- no need to juggles the variab...

[Solved] MySQL rollback won't roll!

Hi, (solution at the end) I have this (relevant snippets only): on BeginTrans DBID put "Start Transaction;" into StrSQL revExecuteSQL DBID,StrSQL get the result --#debug end BeginTrans => result "0" --[1 SELECT & 1 INSERT statements here, that work] --[now I want to know if can roll back:] On Rollba...

Re: php mysql help

Hi, I may be wrong, but I read in your PhP: > mysql_connect($hostName, $userName, $password) or die("Unable to connect to host $hostName"); > mysql_select_db($dbName) or die( "Unable to select database $dbName"); and in your LC: > put myusername && mypassword into myparameter Possible that you need ...

Hi,

and be sure to use the correct ODBC drivers - on my 64bit machine I had to install the 32-bit drivers to work with LiveCode and Access 2003!

Have fun!

Re: set caseSensitive to true

Hi, regarding the script in the OP - assuming that only the "end getPoint" is lacking: The script starts with an already open DB (gConnectionID). Then you grab a Code from a field & put it into tCodes. Be it "123" for now. Then you fill the variables tTableCodes & tTableName - where tTableName istn'...

Re: INSERT INTO MySQL (Decimal 10,4) - ???

Mark, I have to excuse. After I posted my question I went on to other problems, and got overwhelmed by those. Now, that those other problems slowly start to rot on the battlefield of code (= I solved them), I found time to come back here. To be honest, no idea anymore what error is thrown when I try...

Re: Need an example of encryption between LiveCode and PHP

Hi, dunno if it helps this much, but I had to re-code a PhP function recently: PHP: <?php function generateHash() { $initKey = 'EXsl4ywgDR5mR3sTGwws9Ikl2ocSKZlvhxoFTv8Au3MaV5UqrEIJORVF5PmFNy'; $remoteDomain = 'www.server.de'; $date = gmdate('dmY'); $hash = ""; for($i = 0; $i <= 200; $i++) $hash = sh...
