Re: Table Field click causing freeze and phantom field appears

Hi,

disable the "cell editing", and be sure to never have enabled it anywhere.
This never really worked.

Have fun!

Re: Setting a custom font on Android

Hi, putting the .ttf into a "fonts" folder next to your stack & referring it in the "Copy Files" section of the SA settings as "fonts/*" is all that's needed. It ends in "YourApp.apk/assets/fonts/" then. The font is available for your app this way as if it was installed on the machine. The same work...

Re: Email Attachments on Windows

Hi KimD, I admit the sheer numbers of possibilities (that MailAlert offers) can be irritating. But actually it's quite simple - it uses an .ini file for the configuration : [CONFIGURATION] To=monitor@example.org From=automail@example.org ReplyTo=info@example.org ;Cc=admin2@example.org,admin3@example...

Re: Email Attachments on Windows

Hi, You could use Sarah Reichelts SMTP library, it's excellent for this. I was under the impression that it wouldn't work anymore with more "modern" email servers that require SSL and/or STARTTLS (gmail etc.). Then you don't need the email client of the customer. That's why I'd never even try the ab...

Re: Email Attachments on Windows

Hi, Is there a better way of doing this? I don't know if this meets your preferences, but I'm using MailAlert for all of my email business on Windows. It's a tiny command line program that just sends mails as commanded - but with a very powerful feature set. I have yet to find an email problem that ...

Re: Connect Livecode to DB

Hi, put revDataFromQuery(tab, return,gConnID, "SELECT * FROM tbl_Events WHERE City= '"& gCityfield &"' AND Date = '"& gDatefield &"',") into tConxn This results in an SQL query like that: SELECT * FROM tbl_Events WHERE City= 'Hell Central' AND Date = '2019-01-30', Check the last char - this query wi...

Re: Failed to get content from the web in Windows 10

Hi, reporting from a Win10 machine: Downloaded the stack: http://lessons.livecode.com/m/4071/l/7523-how-do-i-get-the-content-of-a-url-on-a-web-server-into-livecode . And run it with LC 9.02 Comm. Gives correct results both for google (as is predefined) as well as for the lessons.livecode URL from OP...

Re: Performance and background jobs

Hi, [...] hundreds of inserts [...] Oh oh. You will want to avoid this, it's a crazy slowdown! Better CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE and feed it the data all at once, then move it around inside the db (UPDATE, INSERT). Anyways, I don't really understand what you're doin here, but to me it looks like it shou...

Re: Search and Scrolling List field

Hi, put clickLine of field "choiceField" into z It's a function - "the clickline" or "clickline()". It should result in something like "line 4 of field 5" ... put item 1 of z into y Since you haven't defined another Itemdelimiter, it's comma, and you'll get "line 4 of field 5" in y. put word 2 of z ...

Re: What's wrong with "it" ??

Hi,

shell commands often return "terminal-formatted text", with spaces and CRs - so I always test if something is somewhere in the result:

Code: Select all

if "No" is in tvState then

Re: MS-SQL Server ODBC Connection

Hi, The advantage of using ODBC connection strings instead of DSN is, that the user does not have to create the DSN to get the software working. That may be seen as a disadvantage, too ;-) I don't want to have the credentials in my software, that's the job of the local admin IMHO. It's he that deter...

Re: MS-SQL Server ODBC Connection

Hi, I never used ODBC the way you mention - there's a much more comfortable way (at least when using Win). Look at Max' wiki regarding MS Access . That's the method using a prefab DSN and simply calling it by name: get RevOpenDatabase("odbc", "DSNName",,,) (All data needed are in the DSN, so you hav...

Re: Deployment to Kindle Fire 7”

Hi, This is using the latest version of LiveCode [...] Read in the comments to the bug report that Panos linked: Apps built with LiveCode Indy 8.x.x installed and run just fine, but with LC 9.x.x onward, the apps upon launch just show a black screen and the OS throws an error notification. You may w...

Re: Unexpected behaviour

Hi, I don't know what Cron or Taskplanner is. Also, This server, as I call it, might be on a big commercial thing over which I will have no control/understanding. These are core mechanisms that every OS has in one form or another - starting repetitive tasks is base functionality of each OS. If you c...
