Re: Native input field help?

Simon,

How do I get the text from the field and put it into a variable?

I want once that button is pressed for the text of the field to be put into something like oInputText

Thanks

Re: Native input field help?

Yeah that lesson is all over the place, here is a simple version of what you need. on openCard if the environment <> "mobile" then exit openCard mobileControlCreate "input", "myNativeTextField" mobileControlSet "myNativeTextField", "visible", true mobileControlSet "myNativeTextField", "rect", "50,5...

Re: Current state of Android externals

Looks like I should have looked around more before giving up. Monte Goulding on http://livecode.com/blog/2013/ says One of the first things I noticed was it is quite easy to use the old externals SDK on iOS and Android for C or C++ externals. That’s how all of RunRev’s externals work cross platform...

Native input field help?

Hi! I read the tutorial and downloaded the test stack on the RunRev lessons site, but I'm still not clear on how the native mobile fields work. I've attached an example mainstack that has a button and a normal input field. I would love it if someone could change it to a mobile-compatible field and p...

Re: Remote stack (via internet) on Android?

Hi guys, I am afraid that this will be seen as "loading external code"***, which is strictly prohibited on iOS! :( *** Even if the remote stack does not contain any scripts! Best Klaus But what if Apple didn't know this is how it worked? Is there a way I can run a command from a variable such as pu...

Re: Current state of Android externals

I agree. Honestly I can't fathom why C/C++ externals wouldn't work on every platform supported by livecode. I really want to implement libtoxcore (https://github.com/irungentoo/ProjectTox-Core) in to an external so I can develop a cross platform Tox client. Sadly, it would appear that externals are ...

If you're dealing with a text-only server, have the client app encode it in base64, send that string to the server, then decode it. Simple as that

Re: Running a full C program inside a stack?

Esso- Cool. Fun can be its own end goal. I submitted a bug to the tox project because there's a missing Makefile that prevents the project from being built (other than the Android parts). If you need to access the commandline tools on a mobile device, though, I'm not sure the sandboxing of individu...

Re: Running a full C program inside a stack?

Esso- What's your end goal here? Are you trying to add additional functionality to the tox project? Are you intending to launch a different process and then in the middle of that launch the tox client as a side effect? Just curious because tox is designed to be self-contained - as an end user, I'd ...

Re: Running a full C program inside a stack?

But how do i deploy it? I cant assume the user already has it insitalled.? You will need to also install all the neccessary excutables with your app (as far as TOX allows). How do i use shell() calls to deploy it to a computer? ? See above. Also, shell() doesnt work on mobile. how do i get it worki...

Re: Running a full C program inside a stack?

The core is separate from the GUI programs. Its a command-line tool with its own distributed network. I just want to make my own GUI for it Then you should be able to control it with a lot of SHELL() calls :D But how do i deploy it? I cant assume the user already has it insitalled. How do i use she...

Re: Running a full C program inside a stack?

Hi Esso, Can this be done? not out of the box! If this is a command line tool, you may be able to control it with some SHELL() commads, but TOX looks like a fully compiled app with a built-in GUI. Best Klaus The core is separate from the GUI programs. Its a command-line tool with its own distribute...

Running a full C program inside a stack?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if it was possible to run a full-on C program inside a LiveCode stack. Specifically, I'm interested in making a UI for Tox-core (https://tox.im/).

Can this be done?
