Re: Menu Builder Woes?

I was able to make the default File-Edit-Help pull-down menu in a clean stack using Menu Builder on Win7 without issue. Thanks LiveCode! (Tools > Menu Builder, click "New", click "Auto Script" for each hilited menu). I was disappointed the auto scripts didn't contain any actual menuItem code, just t...

Re: Data Grid Row Template Button Problem

Thanks Klaus for your reply. I can't explain it. I re-tested the dg delete dialog again with two data grids in a clean stack and everything worked as expected using the "Yes" button to delete dg + associated card + substack...never mind. (Win7, LC6.5.2) Terry

Re: Data Grid Row Template Button Problem

I found the solution to question #1, the confused "Row Template" button. I struggled with this for weeks, and finally realized I had a preOpenStack handler in the mainstack's stack script that was trapping the substack when it opened up, executing commands meant for the mainstack. I fixed the proble...

Data Grid Row Template Button Problem

I've three questions after a project with data grids. Could anyone enlighten me? (Win7, LC6.5.1) 1) Somewhere during programming several data grid tables and forms, the property inspector's "Row Template" button starts going to the most recent substack card, not the appropriate card for the dg. I mu...

Re: Is there a pdf tutorial for learning offline?

1) Do a search in the upper right of this forum for "Beginner Tutorial Stack" and you'll find a stack to download that might help, though not a PDF. 2) Yes the LC User Guide PDF is already on your computer. In windows, start > type "LiveCode User Guide" and it should show up as a clickable link. Pin...

Text-Based Game Demo

I couldn't find examples of a text-based game on the forum or revonline, so I thought it would be a fun challenge to try. I came up with two very different methods. The first method uses ask & answer dialogs in a button on several cards, each card representing a location or "room" along the pathway....

Re: Beginner Tutorial Stack Update

Thanks to those who emailed suggestions and errors. I've placed an updated Beginner Lab for download on my website. Hopefully this newer version will give a better experience. It has three new lessons (speech, array, substack), broken examples fixed, details cleaned up. Terry http://tlittle72.neocit...

Re: Beginner Tutorial Stack

To Bernd & Klaus: Everyone makes mistakes. Thank you for correcting my latest. The forum moderators here are kind and patient. I am continually amazed at the depth of knowledge both of you have in LC. To Chris25: Stack Build Process. I drew the stack elements out on paper. I named the buttons and fi...
