Re: Formatting numbers to show commas after thousands

Dunbarx suggested an exercise trying to convert money to a text string, like on a check, the paper thingy people used to write on to pay for things in ancient times. Money-to-Text conversion isn't so easy. I used the "zen" technique and visualized three elements: 1) work with hundreds, 2) use a func...

Re: List all Custom Properties in a stack

You could use the customKeys property, which returns a line list of all custom props for an object. Another simpler solution is to look in each object's properties inspector under custom properties if there are only a few objects in the stack. Terry local AllCustomProps put the short name of this st...

Re: Formatting numbers to show commas after thousands

I found another way to format a number with commas and handle decimals. Do any math before comma-izing. Strip with replace command: replace comma with empty in tSubTotal --strip out commas. I can't recall the original code author. LiveCode is a flexible language. Fun stuff. Terry on mouseUp --format...

Re: LiveCode Community Open Source Apps

Hi Linda I have some community stacks you're welcome to look over at http://tlittle72.neocities.org/info.html. They include the newest version of Beginner Lab, a tutorial for LiveCode. Reading other people's code is a great way to learn tricks and solutions to common problems. Both RevOnline (within...

Re: PROJECT: RevOnline triage

I found a minor revOnline stack problem. In upload mode, the file selector btn "Browse" only lists .rev files, not .livecode too. The script of control 42, btn "Browse", line 3: answer file "select stack to upload" with type "revolution stack|rev|REV" Could be changed to: answer file "Select stack t...

Re: PROJECT: RevOnline triage

Win7 (32), LC v6.6.2stable, no delete account, no change password, no upload, yes download. Thanks Richard for trying to help solve this long-standing problem with revOnline. RunRev is aware, but they've been "looking into it" for years. Then the web version appeared with no upload capability. They'...

Re: scripting the ability to add controls

Hi Dan.

Here's a Quiz stack to look over for ideas, modify or use as-is.

All on one card, multiple choice or true/false. Instructor writes quiz text and answers key, distributes quiz to students. Student can take quiz only once. Self-scoring, password protected, optional timer, instructions. Terry

Re: Pull-Down Menu Stack For NoSave Standalone

I re-tested the disabled Edit menuItems at Richard's suggestion. The commandKeyDown handler in the stack script IS necessary. If the cut, copy, or paste menuItems are disabled, their keyboard equivalents are also disabled and remain disabled until the mouseDown handler in the menu bar group script r...

If it finds one then the revDataGridLibrary stack is added to your standalone application. Some developers prefer to use a launcher (or sp...

Re: Edit MenuItems Enable Problem

Thanks to Jacque's comments I removed the mouseLeave handler from the grp "Menubar 1" script and placed a commandKeyDown handler in the stack script to restore edit menu keyboard equivilents, which as I understand is cross-platform compatible. This fixed both problems. I added Undo to the edit menu,...

Pull-Down Menu Stack For NoSave Standalone

Any self-respecting menu bar disables the Edit menuItems cut/copy/paste under certain conditions. I've been having two problems re-enabling them. Any help would be much appreciated. (Win 7, LC 6.5.2) The LiveCode User Guide suggests the disable/enable code go in the grp "Menubar 1" script. "If you w...

Re: Standalone File Menu Suggestions

Thanks Jacque for the info on a no-save standalone File menu.

Could someone post their favorite File menu code for a pref/data.txt-save standalone or a splash-screen standalone?

Standalone File Menu Suggestions

I've searched the Forum, User Guide, and LC Lessons for examples of code for a standalone File menu. Menu Builder provides the basic menuPick framework but none of the actual code. I can't find any guidance or examples other than on Jacque's website, http://www.hyperactivesw.com/mctutorial/rrcreateM...
