Re: Lesson 2 Screen Transitions

Did you edit the code for the group of nav buttons? It should be on the group and not the individual buttons. Maybe try clicking on the "Add preOpenCard code to card script" button in Mobgui. I think I got that message before too and I've done this a few times when things weren't working. When all e...

Re: Any keyboard shortcuts for the text editor?

Do you mean the Script Editor? Yes, I did mean "Script" editor, not "text". But if in the Preferences > Script Editor there is a selection for Auto Format. If that selected all you have to do is hit Tab in the script and it will clear up the handler. That totally worked for fixing the indents. I di...

Re: Alternative to Livecode dictonary

Thanks Marc! This does make the dictionary database a little more useable. Its organized in a way that I can peruse the "Topics" based on what I'm trying to do. My problem with the dictionary is I can't search for something if I don't know what I'm looking for. I've been randomly poking around and r...

Any keyboard shortcuts for the text editor?

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew of any keyboard shortcuts for the LC text editor. The 2 things I'd really like to be able to do is: 1) outdent a line of code. Sometimes I'll turn a line of code over or paste something in and it will be double indented. 2) move a line of code up or down in the...

Re: Lesson 2 Screen Transitions

Thanks Elanor! This seems like a simple and elegant solution that clears things up for me a bit. One thing I struggle with is the logic of how to write this stuff. For instance my thinking was to put an if/then statement AFTER the card was loaded. The way you have it the statement checks the card BE...

Re: Strategy for following live lessons

That's the way I'm doing it too. I find myself having to watch parts of the lesson a few times before I get it. Once I get it to work I also try doing it in another project, just to see if I can do it again. Seems like the more you practice the more familiar it all becomes.

Lesson 2 Screen Transitions

It was really cool to learn how to make the screen transitions animate today. From a UX standpoint this works a lot better for the user than just having the next screen appear as if from nowhere. I did get it to work, however if I'm on a particular screen (like the "Contacts" screen) and click the s...

Re: Suggestions for Icon Editors?

Thanks EOTR That PS plugin called Dev Rocket" by ui parade sounds awesome. I'm going to give it a try when the time comes. It sounds like a big time saver. coffee16 No problem! Glad I could point something useful out. The best part is the plugin is only $19 USD. And yes, it's a huge time saver. Cut...

Re: Suggestions for Icon Editors?

Just wanted to throw out another Photoshop plugin suggestion. I use this thing called "Dev Rocket" by ui parade. It actually does 5 useful things: -includes an icon template with a master graphic file, so you make your graphic and then it resizes it into the various iOS icon formats -creates iOS tem...

Re: iOS Simulator

Make sure in your <b>standalone application settings</b> that you have Universal and 3.1.3 or later selected. I forgot to mention this. Also if you're tab buttons work in livecode, but not in the simulator, you probably forgot too add the preopencard code. In MobGui there is a button that says "Add...

Re: Problems resizing buttons

I ran into the same problem. dbcbos is right about the Mobgui element being a group. I have been going into the Project Browser and selecting just the single element within the group (like just the background) and adjusting the parameters in the inspector for that element. One thing I found is you c...

Hello My name is Henry. I'm a graphic designer in Chicago, IL USA. For a few years now I've had ideas for apps, but couldn't actually make them. I feel like I can do everything else including Market Research and product development, design (wire framing, UI, UX, graphic design), and marketing, howev...

Re: iOS Simulator

This was happening to me too. You probably have LC set to target a non-retina device, but you don't have the non-retina (iOS 5) SDK linked. Assuming you do have the iOS 6.1 SDK linked, choose Development>Test Target>iPhone Simulator 6.1 in the menu. When the iOS Simulator comes up you might have to ...

Just to follow up about the link to the lesson's resource files: I was sent an email with a link and password to a secure area where things are kept. So if you aren't getting emails you should definitely contact support.

Re: Enrolled, now how do I access it?

The webinar was restarted after some technical difficulties and eventually ran fine. After a pre-recorded demo there was a Q&A session. The whole thing was recorded, but I forget where he said the video would be posted. There should be other files, notes, and links there as well. When I find out I'l...
