Re: Robot module

I've posted an updated Robot programming activity to the master database. This one allows you to scroll the screen in the case of smaller monitors where the window size is decreased, and to resize the window. If you have the licensed version all you need to do to get the update is to choose Help men...

Re: Problem with Update Livecode Univerty after install Tria

Good to hear, Eric.

You should also find that with the new version many of the lessons that formerly depended on downloads from the server now contain the lesson media resources in the local data store.

Re: Problem with Update Livecode Univerty after install Tria

Hello Eric, Thanks for trying and purchasing LCU. Based on the error message you are getting it sounds like you have an early version of LCU. Try going back to the download page at http://university.livecode.com and download LCU again. That should fix the problem you are having. LCU should still rem...

Re: Robot module

Hi wsamples, Thanks for the report. Here at BYU we always used the program on 20 inch monitors, but now that it's being run on lots of screen sizes I have noticed this problem, too. I am working on a fix that will allow scrolling on smaller screens, but that is proving tricky. I'll redouble my effor...

Re: Resources and submissions

James, I just now discovered that RunRev had set up this forum. So sorry I haven't replied before now. The robot program submission was a known error and is fixed in v. 1.1.4, which is now on the LCU download page. The FAQ appeared a couple of days after the initial release last week, and I'm active...

Re: How to make this move smoothly?

There is no GUI for setting acceleratedRendering, just do it in a script before the motion begins. For instance you could do this in the card script:

Code: Select all

on preOpenCard
set the acceleratedRendering of this stack to true
end preOpenCard

Re: How to make this move smoothly?

Ahmed, Are you using the game loop handlers from the Game Academy? I think your increment may be too high. Try using a smaller increment, maybe 5 to 10, and a higher refresh rate. Also, make sure that you set the acceleratedRendering of the stack to true on the card doing the scrolling. And make sur...

Re: Text format

Rod, I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but if you just want to clear all formatting from the text in the field try something like this: set the textStyle of char 1 to -1 of field "myFld" to empty If you just set the textStyle of the field, the properties that have been previously set o...

Re: How do you put non-text in with text

Probably the easiest way to do this is to first strip out all of the text font and style information, then use the htmlText to transfer the text to the other field: set the textFont of char 1 to -1 of fld "source" to empty set the textSize of char 1 to -1 of fld "source" to empty set the textStyle o...

Re: Groups and collisions

Thanks for the reply, Malte. I still couldn't get the group to move, but decided it was easier just to use more traditional methods (mouseDown, mouseMove handlers) to control the dragging. I was able to listen for collisions on a single object in the group, just as you suggested.

Groups and collisions

I'm trying to detect collisions with objects in a group and I have two problems: 1. When I try to move the group around, it moves only one object in the group, the one I click down on. The group consists of two buttons, each with an icon assigned. I need the group to move as a single unit. 2. I actu...

Re: Modifier key behaviour anomalies

I just read your comment to this effect on your bug report. It's an important point; why not add the same comment to the other report, just to make sure it doesn't get overlooked?

Re: Modifier key behaviour anomalies

Actually, Clark, it looks like Mark W. did change the original report from an enhancement request to a bug. (Severity field changed from 'enhancement' to 'normal'.) The version is also updated to 4.6.0 DP5. My hunch is they're taking a look at it now.
