Re: can't create a variable with that name

Even if it's an old post, I encountered the same problem and I discovered this:
if you set in the Editor menu the Variable Checking on, you can't set new variables anymore and get can't create a variable with that name error.

I hope this could help beginners like me.

Re: Storing data in an external file

I thought also about array:

Code: Select all

put "Max" into car["owner"]
put "Ferrari" into car["model"]
put 2 into car["age"]
but how can I save an array in a file and retrieve array data from a file?

Storing data in an external file

Hello, I read here and there about storing data, and I need to store just 4 data in an external file. I think that the best way is to save all properties of an object. Is there any way to save an object? An object has custom properties, if I could save an object, I could load it and all my data woul...

Re: Check value statement

Thank you very much jmburnod . Now, I solved for my calculator, but is there a check or parse function that control if statement is correct? I was used to work with Rebol language (very similar to LiveCode) and there was a try function that you could use this way: if try (do "put 3 into b") then do ...

Check value statement

Hi,
I'm working on a scientific calculator, and I'm using value like this:

Code: Select all

put value of "3+3" into myresult
If the string is not correct, like "oops+3+3", it crashes!
How can I test if the string is a valid script for value or for do functions?

Hi, what is the file format of LiveCode Scripts?
I tried to open mine with a text editor, and it's "quite" intelligible.
