Re: Saving to External SD Card

Thanks for both replies. Yes, I verified again that I have the "Write External Storage" box checked. However, the names of the sd cards are somewhat confusing, depending on what I use to look at them with. For example, Astro File Manager reports "sdcard0" and "extSdCard." Then, when I use The Folder...

Saving to External SD Card

I have no difficulty saving to the internal SD card, but Android seems to not want to let me save to the external card. I remember reading that Android restricts access to the external card, but I see that other apps are writing to it, so I assume there is a way. My Android version is 4.4.2. Looking...

Re: Capturing & Saving Images on Android

A belated "thank you," Klaus. I finally waded through the problem using the direction you provided. As you know, it's not always a direct answer that solves an issue, but just being pointed in the right direction is of enormous help.

Capturing & Saving Images on Android

Hi, Possibly someone can give me a little direction here to get me over the hump with using the camera on Android. I simply want to capture and image with the camera, then be able to save it and retrieve it later. I've tried to research the topic but have come up with sketchy information on how to h...

Re: Trouble with "&" in URL string for Google Maps

Thanks folks for the help. As suggested, the problem was with an embedded carriage return in the line. I copied and pasted the script and somehow didn't detect it. Everything is working fine now.

Thanks

Re: Trouble with "&" in URL string for Google Maps

Thank you, Simon, for replying so quickly. Just as you say, I assumed that placing the string in quotes would encapsulate keywords and insulate them from errors. Given the text of the error I am getting, do you have any ideas of what could be generating the error. I cited the error in my original me...

Trouble with "&" in URL string for Google Maps

I'm trying to display a Google Map in my Android app with Google Static Maps. The parameters in the string to be sent in the URL require ampersands, but the Livecode compiler rejects the code because the "&" character is a reserved keyword. At least, that's what I think is happening when I get the e...

Application Icon Problem

I think I've done due diligence in trying to look this up on the forum and docs and can't find a solution, so please give some input if you can. It's simple. I have an icon for my application that shows up just fine on my phone when I load it on my phone through the "Test" function. However, when I ...

Re: Showcase of Android Apps made with LiveCode

It seems this question has been asked before, and with no takers. Unsettling. Here is an Android App that I have some people beta testing and that will end up on the play store when I'm done. I've tested it on a Motorola Electrify M phone (888x540), and a mongrel origin tablet with a larger screen, ...

Re: Problem with 1st try at a scroller

Thank you Bernd! Your solution works perfectly. After I tried your code and tested on my device, I went back to the original lesson and reread it. Sure enough, a similar line of code was embedded in the text as a possible substitute for the line in question. Duh, I had missed that altogether. It app...

Problem with 1st try at a scroller

Hi - I've puzzled over this until the screen is starting to go blank in front of my eyes and I can't seem to figure out what is going on, so I'm hoping someone can give me a tip. I think that the answer is staring me in the face, but i can't pull it out. To initially get started with creating a scro...

Re: specialFolderPath("engine") on Mountain Lion

That's it, jacque, you drove a stake into the heart of my question. I was thinking that I would need to generate something that would distinguish the app's environment and specify the paths accordingly, but it's not necessary now. I appreciate you sharing your simple and elegant function. I guess I ...

Re: specialFolderPath("engine") on Mountain Lion

"engine" is only supported for ios and android. I guess didn't state my question clearly. In fact, I am deploying to a mobile device, and this question came out of trying to transfer a working app from development on Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Also from the dictionary, "'engine' is only support...

specialFolderPath("engine") on Mountain Lion

I just started to migrate from my Snow Leopard machine to a new Mini with Mountain Lion, and I'm puzzling over a difference in the paths between the two systems. Although LC reports back that the specialFolderPath("engine") on both Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion is "/Users/genelambert/Library/Applic...

Re: Time comparison

I just started working my way through some of the time conversion issues being discussed as a part of starting on a time log of hours worked on projects and I ran across your thread. I am thinking that doing the computations using a 24 hour clock (see "TwelveHourTime" in the dictionary) might be sim...
