Re: Forum clean-up?
If there is a cleanup with topics moved to an archives section, will this cause links to such topics to break? (Both internal links in the forum, and external links from other websites). If this is the case (links breaking), and this cannot be avoided, then I would be against the cleanup. Otherwise ...

Re: State of the Extensions Store
After a bit of a wait (not complaining - I'm sure the team have been very busy getting 9.5 together), I got the following reply: Thank you for your request. I'm sorry for the delay in responding, I have been waiting for our store guys to get back to me. You should be able to upload a widget, yes. Yo...

Re: State of the Extensions Store
True, but rather than making a fool of myself when writing to them saying "Why's the store not working?" only to be told "It *is* working!", I thought I'd ask here first (I assumed all the widget builders would be here).
Your answers, though, seem to suggest it isn't working.

State of the Extensions Store
Apologies for asking here rather than trying to find out myself, but I am curious to know the current state of the extension store. More than a year ago I registered an ID for the store, but I don't think at that point it was possible to actually upload extensions to the store. I logged back in agai...

I reached out to Scott, who ran LiveCodeGameDeveloper, and he replied today. Scott is kindly mirroring the website at http://thelivecodelab.com/livecodegamedeveloper/, so while I'm not sure how frequently it will be updated, all the content is still available.

Re: HyperCard Serial Toolkit
I know how that feels! Exams, assignments and other work has limited what I can do in the last few months, but as of last week that's all over and I can concentrate on the more interesting stuff! Anyway, I'm still here... as are all my HyperCard reference books. Let me know if you need any help and ...

Re: LiveCode doesn't work on Linux (Debian Jessie)
I've been running LiveCode 8 and 9 on Debian 8.7 (Jessie) for a few months now with no issues. My specs: Debian 8.7 64-bit LXDE Desktop environment Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz 4 GB RAM From the issues you are having (text and widgets not appearing), it seems that perhaps one of your sys...

Re: proprietary file format, why not and why....
It should be possible to read word files using LiveCode, if that is what you want to do. WordLib is a 3rd party add on for LiveCode by Curry Kenworthy. Website here: http://livecodeaddons.com/. The add-ons you may be interested in are WordLib and SpreadLib. Disclaimer: I have never used these plugin...

Re: Analytical Engine - An Introduction to Computer Science
When I opened the compressed zip folder, I noticed that all Macintosh files are damaged because the Resource Fork split from their Data Fork. The LiveCode files I uploaded and liked to on Friday should not have this problem because I used the original .SEA file and converted the stacks to LiveCode ...

Re: Analytical Engine - An Introduction to Computer Science
The slanted AE is a unicode character, I believe. I think that as long as the underlying filesystem supports unicode, then it should display just fine. It is possible that the file system on the 1.44MB floppy disk does not support Unicode property. All the filesystems I used to extract the file (GNU...

Re: Analytical Engine - An Introduction to Computer Science
Well, here they are. They are in LiveCode 5 format, so most recent versions of LiveCode (including 8.1) are able to open them. https://www.dropbox.com/s/z90gze0s6xim8re/%C3%86%20Stacks.zip?dl=1 Note that I made the zip file on a Mac, so if you open it on anything but a Mac you will get an additional...

That sounds great, I hope you get it transferred tonight. If not, I would be more than happy to do the transfer for you. I'll do a trial either today or tomorrow with an 800k disk (probably a HyperCard 1.1 install disk) to make sure I can.
Let me know how it goes

Re: Analytical Engine - An Introduction to Computer Science
Wow! Progress seems to be happening. A quick note on buying another book that will have the disk: unless the seller description for the specific copy of the book you are ordering mentions that the disk is included, then don't buy it for the disk. The title "book/disk" is misleading: it implies that ...

Re: Android Stack Player
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think this should be very easy for you to write yourself in LiveCode, through the "go stack" command, which opens a LiveCode stack. Specifically, the command "go stack url <url>" will open a stack over a network if you have uploaded the stack onto the w...

Re: Shoutcast / Icecast stream player
One thing you could try (although my own tests don't look promising) is the new browser widget. I believe that this is fully cross platform. It is also easier to work with as it can be tested in LiveCode before being tested on a mobile device. The browser widget definitely supports HTML5 as I am abl...
