Pitfalls with iOS Development
If you have successfully deployed an LC app on iOS or you've made a sincere run at it and found LC fell short, I'm anxious to hear about any pitfalls and workarounds, any warnings or issues you ran into. I'm comfortable with the process on Apple's side and I'm about to test the workflow process in L...

Building an App Based on External Libraries
I'm about to embark on a new type of project for me, one that will involve connecting to existing libraries (code and data) for most of the base functionality but where LC would provide the cross-platform transport mechanism that would enable deployment everywhere. Something like treating LC as a sc...

rrEnarrator and TTS in LC
I'm designing a product that requires text-to-speech capability and iOS platform delivery. I note that revSpeak isn't supported natively on iOS (bummer!) but a bit of rummaging around the attic reveals the existence of something called rrEnarrator, a sample external included with the externals SDK f...

Re: Infinite Loop in LiveCode U?
Heather, I guess I forgot that LCU was a separate product. Given that's the case, it seems like it shouldn't appear in the default Start Center unless the user has purchased it. Though I guess it could be viewed as a way of marketing it. In any case, I apparently never ordered it and I don't see a w...

Re: Infinite Loop in LiveCode U?
Not sure why you thought switching browsers would help. The problem isn't with the browser; it's with the LC site. But I did switch from Safari to Chrome. Same exact outcome. Going to univeresity.livecode.com produces the same exact page as livecode.com. There appears to be no university.livecode.co...

Infinite Loop in LiveCode U?
Running LC 7.1 on OS X 10.10.5. I bring up the Start Center because I'm putting together a basic getting-started presentation for some elementary school teachers. Click on LiveCode University. I get taken to the start page and click the "Get Started" button, which takes me to the Download login page...

When is a quote not a quote?
I discovered this morning a peculiar behavior with the "quote" constant in LC. This problem is present in 6.6.2 and 6.7 (dp7). I suspect it's been around a while. For all I know, others have documented it. If you use the command: find quote in field 3 and are searching a field that contains strings ...

Chrome Embedded Framework Version
Someone on my team noticed that the CEF is currently at Version 31, which is five behind the current release 36. The later release has some important enhancements dealing with support for Web componentry, so we're wondering what the roadmap path is to getting into synch with CEF releases?

What Books Do You Want?
I'm getting ready to launch a new one-man publishing company featuring books on a number of different topics including LiveCode. (For those who don't know me, I'm a long-time HyperTalk/RunRev/LiveCode author. I wrote the first book on RunRev back in the day.) The docs are pretty good these days and ...

Re: Brainstorm: RevOnline curation
One idea I've had several times over the years I've been using this technology is to have user ratings on the RevOnline contributions. As it is, unless you recognize the author of a particular contribution, you're sort of "buying" something in the dark. But if 23 people have previously downloaded it...

Richard,
I'd be willing and eager to help with this effort assuming it comes to fruition.

Re: Convert Card to HTML?
I like BlueGriffon at first glance. I'm going to try it in a small project this weekend. I need to spend a bit more focused time with it to do a proper evaluation.

Re: revweb support? HTML5 instead?
I had to move away from using LiveCode (which was then called RunRev) despite my real passion for the language several years ago when it became clear my projects were all headed for Web deployment. Essentially, I've been writing Web apps using several different tools, technologies and platforms in t...

Re: Convert Card to HTML?
Rolf, I spent a couple of hours with your conversion stack. I may be misunderstanding something about how to prepare a stack for it but it didn't work properly for me. I created a one-card stack that had two images and two text objects, one a headline and one a block of copy. When I exported it to H...

Not familiar with any of those you mentioned other than SiteGrinder, which I could never use (I'm not a Photoshopper). I'll check out the other three, though. Thanks for the pointers.
