Re: LC 7.0.4 on Raspberry Pi 2

...and adding the line:

framebuffer_depth=32

to /boot/config.txt

had no effect (consistent with what I'd believed Fraser had told me via email a week or two ago...)

Re: LC 7.0.4 on Raspberry Pi 2

Very weird: I did the current NOOBS download onto a freshly formatted 8Gb (via SDFormatter_4.00B).

Downloaded 7.0.4 and 7.0.3, each to a freshly-installed Raspbian uSD card. I expected exactly what you report as your experience, and am quite puzzled what I might have done differently...

Re: LC 7.0.4 on Raspberry Pi 2

After having LC 7.0.4 fail to run on my RPi 2, I found this post and tried 7.0.3 instead. It launches, and lets me run the bouncing balls demo, but crashes if I do anything much else. In particular, clicking on the menubar (trying to do File/New Mainstack) causes an immediate, fully reproducible cra...

Re: Database to Data Grid and back again - best methods

CaveNewt: Yes, I do worry a bit about using 3rd-party packages. But in this case, I know that Andre (the author of DBLIB) is a long-time, active, dedicated LiveCode developer. So I'm gambling that he will update the package if a future LC release breaks it... Quentin, CaveNewt: I will attempt to att...

Re: Database to Data Grid and back again - best methods

Quentin: I went through a similar experience about 9 months ago, trying the reduce the "get data from a database into a datagrid" problem to its simplest and easiest form. I found that the best way (for me anyway) was to try to hide/ignore all the revDBxxx calls. I started with Andre Garzia's DBLib ...

Re: Help with wildcard '% or %' or...?

I was a bit puzzled at the single/double-quote syntax too (it's been awhile since I did much SQL, and concatenating up query-strings is always a stupid mess in any language), so I just put a breakpoint in the script and looked at the final query-string. That let me visualize what was getting built s...

Re: maintaining app window size???

Yeah, System Preferences did put the menubar on the ext monitor when I first set it up, but the physical arrangement of the monitor vs the laptop made that really awkward, so I pulled the menubar back to the laptop screen... When I downloaded Elanor's finished Lesson 2 stack, it did NOT open at lapt...

live webinar issues

The sound problems today were even worse than last week. I had to bail on today's webinar: too painful to listen to! I think I've decided to skip the live webinars and just do the lessons from downloaded videos. I find that I can't keep up with typing, watching the GoToMeeting window and, thinking a...

Re: LiveCode crashes a lot

I'm also seeing semi-frequent behavior in the Project Browser where I will click on an object and get a message like "the object you have selected no longer exists." Quitting LC and restarting gives sane behavior again. I have not tried just closing the Project Browser and reopening it, but will do ...

maintaining app window size???

Working on Summer School app: Every time I re-open the app, it gets truncated vertically, even though I followed the directions to click on iPad and Portrait and check the Disable Auto Stack Resize option in MobGUI. DId I miss a secret step? Larry PS: working on a laptop with an external monitor to ...

Re: MobGUI

Doesn't it require a restart of LiveCode after installing a plugin, before the plugin appears in the menu?

This might be creating confusion for some people, as it never seems to get mentioned...

Re: iOS Simulator

dbcbos: I'm not clear on what you mean by "going into the second tab"?

To what second tab in which window of what tool are you referring?

Thanks,

Re: iOS Simulator

Additional data-point: more testing shows that this problem ONLY seems to happen when I have a MobGUI control in the stack. I took it out, and can open the simulator OK under 6.1, but if I add it back in, then the error returns. Other stacks that were never touched by MobGUI appear to open OK under ...

iOS Simulator

I am also having trouble with the blankety-blank "Unable to start simulation: iOS-Simulator could not install the app" error. I can test against 5.1 fine, but selecting 6.1 always gives the error. I have XCode 4.4.1, 4.6 and 4.6.3 installed. I have LC Prefs set to point to all 3 SDKs. In Mobile Supp...

Re: App Ideas

I plan to convert a web app I have running on my on-rev server into a native iOS app. It's an app for looking up bus arrival times (for the Madison (WI, USA) Metro bus system). Yes, the Transit feature in Google Maps is a great all-around tool, but for some purposes, I still find my light-weight app...
