Re: put URL - Question

bobcole: Hmm. When I use the exact same script you posted (but with the URL to the calendar file set to where my file is located), the number of lines of tStoreMe is 0. It sounds like my installation isn't behaving correctly, based on your test. I'll double-check my ownership/permissions for livecod...

put URL - Question

At work I've been using LiveCode to run all kinds of scripts on our web servers, behind the scenes. Today I started playing with LiveCode server - it is installed, and I can do a "Hello world" web page that spits out the current time and date. Hooray! Question: in a ".lc" web page on my server, can ...

Re: LC vs Flutter

stam, It has EVERYTHING to do with the conversation. Google Reader was the number one way for people to read RSS feeds, until one day Google killed it. Dead. Gone. All of its users were pissed but Google did not care. So one might dedicate a ton of time to mastering Flutter and then some Google Exec...

Re: Multiple LiveCode icons in my Dock

NEVER MIND! Solved my own issue. Not a LiveCode thing - it's a stupid Dock setting.

Multiple LiveCode icons in my Dock

I wasn't sure where to ask this, but has anyone seen multiple LiveCode icons inserted into their Dock? I'm running 10.15. When I launch LiveCode, it automatically adds itself to my Dock (meaning the icon is still there when I quit.) When I launch it again, it adds a second icon. On the third launch ...

Re: USB Game Controllers?

Oops! Sorry it took me so long to respond. It's the iBuffalo Classic USB Gamepad. I use it with OpenEmu, which lets you run old arcade games in emulation. It also runs NES, SNES, and a ton of other systems. Aha! OK, yeah, I think I figured this out. The iBuffalo Classic USB Gamepad says nothing on t...

Re: USB Game Controllers?

I connected the USB controller to a text editor, and nothing. So I think you're right - the OS doesn't know what to do with the input. OpenEmu likely has some generic USB game pad drivers in it, so it works well with that.

USB Game Controllers?

Work goes very well on my proof of concept Galaga-type game. Basically I have everything working, including randomized attack patterns for my 8 baddies. I'm super happy with the results so far! So my next thought was to try to get my game working with my usb game controller. It's an older controller...

Re: Scrolling Backgrounds

I hadn't thought about using and testing different versions of LiveCode, but I will include that. I'd been using LiveCode Community 7 for a long time, but it was crashing a bunch on me with the animation stuff. I started using 8, which crashes far far less. Still need to try 9. So yeah, I'll do some...

Re: Scrolling Backgrounds

Thanks Cy - I'm already using your directions! LOL. I think I asked the wrong question. What I'm trying to figure out is if there are any advantages or disadvantages to using an image for background instead of skinning a button. I'm using buttons for everything else. I'm trying to get a feel for wha...

Scrolling Backgrounds

I have a simple question. If you make a game with a scrolling background, is it better to use a button or an image to display the background image?

Klaus has answered more of my questions in the past than I can remember, and has been invaluable. I remember asking questions here and whenever I saw his name as the replier I'd get excited because I knew he'd have the answers. Klaus is awesome!

Re: Kind of sad to see...

Thanks! :) I had a little hobby software company with my buddy Chris about 5 years ago. We made educational apps and had two iOS apps in the App Store. But Chris got hired to be an Apple SE, and they basically told him he couldn't put out software for iOS on the side, so we stopped. After that, I lo...

Re: Kind of sad to see...

The best resource I've seen (and used) is at: https://sites.google.com/a/pgcps.org/livecode/game-programming I've been gone from the forums for about 5-6 years, but have been using LiveCode at work doing server stuffs, and I've just decided to jump back into game making. The above site is a really c...
