Re: True graphics physics and game engine

Thanks for that Lagi, Actually it was tingling in the back of my brain and I thought I remembered something like this, but then attributed it to the animationEngine released as an Extension for v6 I think though, the chipmunk got hit crossing the road, going to chipmunk-physics.net brings up a timeo...

True graphics physics and game engine

Hello all, Re-working some of my thoughts on development direction to take. The ideas and plans to be developed are graphic heavy games utilizing complex sprite movement/animation and physics. In the MS world, Xamarin allows cross-platform style development using C#, but their UI is very limited to ...

Re: object move when shift key down

@melristau I think Richard was directing you to see this old "Bug" report from 2008!! (said tongue-in-cheek, Richard) http://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=7380 I know this posting is a month old, but the same thought was rolling in my head for the last couple weeks. It is a surprise that LC d...

Offline Users Guides

Hello, I read today's LiveCode email about the "Comprehensive Documentation from LiveCode Services" and it got me wondering... Unless I've gone blind and am missing something somewhere, when might we have offline documentation available for LiveCode? I'm probably not alone in having limited access o...

Re: Odd script behaviour (aka Beware of Inline Coding)

Hey, I'm with you all. Spell it out and it makes a lot more sense (especially when you come back to it in 6 months to make a change!) Here's one I remember coming across when I was doing some PHP work a short while ago. It was to determine thenumber of days in a given month. Follow it through and it...

Re: Odd script behaviour (aka Beware of Inline Coding)

Hi Dixie, Thanks for your input as well. I guess I wasn't clear on what I was getting at. It was more of an observation than solving an actual problem. Where my confusion came in was with the compiling of the inline if...then statement. For example, this works and compiles: on mouseUp if 0 = 0 then ...

Re: Odd script behaviour (aka Beware of Inline Coding)

Hi Craig, What I was getting at is that the seemingly identical code (except for one CR) is handled differently by the compiler. I hadn't really expected the compiler to differentiate between a CR in sample 1 or 2. In LiveCode, is there a difference between an if...then on a single line vs. if...the...

Odd script behaviour (aka Beware of Inline Coding)

Hello all, Running through the Notes Building App course. Just had a row of pulling out a good portion of my hair. "Why, oh why doesn't it work??! Arghhh!!!!" I discovered (is it by design or bug??) that this will compile fine, but doesn't work as intended. Although the internal "end if" is missing ...

Additional routines

Hello all, Here's a upgraded routine for those of you working on the Calculator course. Our observations: 1. A leading "." was not preceded by a leading zero (merely aesthetics) 2. It was possible to enter multiple "." in a number Update the code on the Card Script on numberPressed pNumPress --if th...

Re: How to rotate a square

Hey Mark, The bug report will have to wait for now. I repeated my exact steps to recreate the problem - and it worked as it is supposed to. Problem fixed itself!!! Actually, I've run into odd occurrences now and then and should have known to reboot. It seems with LC, if running the IDE all day and e...

Re: How to rotate a square

@Bernd, Thanks for the explanation, yes I did read the forum posting late last night and it makes *more* sense now... As for a sample stack of what I am doing, this isn't something that actually I need, but I was walking through playing with LC when I tripped over it. I was unable to let go until I ...

Re: How to rotate a square

Thanks SparkOut, Thanks for your input, always valued. I guess I was a little lost as to why this occurs the way it does. Although there appears to be a small bug (I've submitted a bug report update) using revRotatePoly , the dimensions of the "Polygon" compared to a "Regular Polygon" are updated an...

Re: How to rotate a square

OK, so here it goes again... For some reason, I couldn't get revRotatePoly to work earlier - it kept crashing LC 7.0.1, but now it seems to work - sort of. If I revRotatePoly the name of graphic "Rectangle", 45 - it converts the rectangle to a polygon, it rotates it 45 deg (as specified), but the le...

Re: How to rotate a square

Thanks Simon, Hadn't tried it like that yet, but did with same results. Once the Rectangle style is changed to a Regular polygon, it rotates up on one point and the given dimension is applied to the height/width (based on corner to corner). Rotating it 45° and it's too small again... To see what I a...

How to rotate a square

Good day all, So, it's pretty simple what I am trying to do, but it's not sinking in... How can I create a 100 px wide square, have the ability to rotate it and actually have it keep to right size? Using LC 7.0.1 I was playing with the Polygon, Regular polygon, Rectangle, etc, etc and got the follow...
