Re: Cannot enter data in field

I didn't actually watch the video since I understand the problem, but the issue is more related to the stack scripts or structure. Can you post your stack, or a short example stack that demonstrates the problem?

Re: Use of layers in groups of groups - some observations

I forgot all about "relayer". Good call.

Re: Using a Group to display images

I played with your example a bit. You're right, the boundingRect isn't the answer, so set that back to empty. The yellow graphic needs to be much taller than the group itself, and both the graphic and the group have lockLoc set to true. I put this into one of the buttons. It only handles vertical dr...

Re: Use of layers in groups of groups - some observations

When you edit a group, LC creates a temporary card in memory and copies the controls to it. That's why the layering changes; those controls are the only ones on the "card". If you refresh the app overview, it will show the same altered layering order during editing. (Right-click anywhere in the righ...

Re: Text Entry field Cursor

You guys may be overthinking this. It sounds like he just wants a normal editable text field.

Another reason for the failure could be a transparent button or field on top of the editable one.

Re: Unable to name new cards within a stack

This probably should have been a new thread, but anyway... All I can think of is that you're trying to save the stack to a folder without write permissions. Try saving it to the desktop.

Of course, your disk really might be full but that's unlikely.

Re: Text Entry field Cursor

Check the field properties. Locktext should be false, autohilite true, and traversalon true.

Re: Using a Group to display images

Have you tried playing with the boundingRect property? If a group's boundingRect is not empty and its lockLocation is false, when you drag an object toward the boundary of the group, the group does not automatically resize to fit its objects. Instead, the object is clipped at the boundingRect. (In g...

Re: Swiping with native scroller?

Found the bug report: https://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=12419 Scroll down to my entries near the end. I guess I did try the touch messages apparently. You could add comments there, it would bring the report back up to the team's attention. It's been confirmed but there's no progress on it...

Re: Swiping with native scroller?

That was my experience too, and I tried various things that didn't work. The culprit was the lack of a mouseUp message inside the scroller. Touch messages may be similar but I can't remember. The odd thing is that taps do work so you might want to implement taps at the left and right sides to go to ...

Re: Using a Group to display images

That's right, the group's content must overflow the borders of the group. Groups are elastic and will resize themselves to accommodate new content unless you set their lockLoc to true, so be sure to do that.

Re: Cannot enter data in field

I've occasionally seen the pointer and browse tools fail to sync correctly in the tools palette, not too often but more than once. Maybe that's what's going on. If this is a reproducible error then it's worth reporting. I've never isolated how it happens.

Re: Truncating long words

Writing to a field is one of the slowest operations in LC. It will be faster if you lock the screen, do the text adjustments, and then unlock the screen. Either of the methods work, though I prefer the first only because it's more concise and in many cases would require fewer repetitions in the repe...

Re: Generating Variables in a Repeat loop

I was just about to write the same thing, but Klaus beat me to it. Removing the exclamation point fixes it. Otherwise you need the quotes.

And not quoting literals is a no-no anyway.

Re: Generating Variables in a Repeat loop

No problem, just have your script check the day of the week and run the appropriate line of script. :)
