Re: LiveCode Programmer Competency Matrix

I gather than the North Americans tend to call
Drop Scones, Flapjacks, just as the English tend to call Drop Scones, Pancakes.
It's a regional thing. Some folks in the southern US say "Flapjacks", in the northern states we say "pancakes" but they're all the same thing.

Re: 32 bites and a sore finger

The dialog is just a warning and LC will work normally. It's just telling you that things may change in the future.

Re: trouble with save file per ftp

An explanation here:
https://my.ultrawebhosting.com/knowledg ... -file.html

It sounds like the server isn't renaming the file, but I'm not sure why. Perhaps the upload isn't complete?

Re: Photo recognition

Google worked for years on this and only recently released Google Lens. I don't know if there's an API for it, but you'd definitely need one. Recognition relies on their massive database of images.

Re: Refactoring

Probably a path issue. Do this: answer folder "Choose a folder:" put it See if what you get matches what you typed into the handler. Alternately, have you looked at the plug-in in the Development menu called "revSmartSave"? It does what you want. Edit: never mind, I see you fixed it while I was typi...

Re: Refactoring

The defaultfolder may be changing between openstack and the time your save handler executes. Yes sure, but it is hard to understand why this should happen in this tiny nanosecond before calling the "backsave" routine 8) . So the first saving SHOULD go into the right place! Not? I'd think so, but th...

Re: Refactoring

Klaus beat me to it but here's what I was writing when he posted: Use the full file path in the backsave handler instead of setting the defaultfolder earlier. Or alternately, set the defaultfolder inside the backsave handler itself. The defaultfolder may be changing between openstack and the time yo...

Re: Refactoring

It's always wise to simplify as much as possible, if for no other reason than just to save your own sanity later. The 50 buttons need to use a behavior, which you can automate. Put the script into a hidden button and use that as the script storage container. Write a temporary handler that loops thou...

Re: Postgres SQL Server

It sounds like there's a missing inclusion, but I'm not sure what you mean by "running locally". Do you mean it runs in the IDE? If so, the IDE has all the inclusions loaded at all times. If you mean something else by "locally" then I'm stumped.

Re: MouseEnter while down

A couple of others gave suggestions on the list too. One used Animation Engine to calculate the math for the hexagons, but the LC engine seems to do that by itself now if the control is a polygon graphic. I suggested a solution there too, but here's a slightly revised one that works a little better:...

Re: How do I track down the source of "beach ball of death"?

I sometimes get that when things get stuck in a LC IDE script. In that case there's not much you can do. Does it happen in LC 9.0.1?

Re: HTML5 Active Development?

It might be nice to have "the environment" be "html5" instead of "standalone application" as well.
The "platform" function will give you that at least.

Sorry I couldn't help more but you did the right thing asking the team. If they have an answer, it would be great if you could post it here for future users with the same question.
