Re: dont understand Curl

I'm not sure how the flags will impact it, but basically you can put the whole string into a variable and then:

get shell(tVar)

See the shell function in the dictionary. There's several examples there.

Re: Amazing prime! >^oo^<

I know there are at least one or two other women on the forum but they don't appear very often. On a computer, mathematical calculations are limited by the storage capactity in memory, as I understand it. The limitation is a physical one based on how high a computer can count before running out of r...

Re: dont understand Curl

Curl is a shell command, did you try that? For POST you'd need something like this: put "sk_test_123456ABCDEFG?amount=999¤cy=usd&description=Example charge&source=tok_visa" into tCmd post tCmd to "https://api.stripe.com/v1/charges" But I'm not quite sure where the "?" should go, it depends on ...

Re: Code Tidiness

Subsidiary to that, is it better to keep code in the card or the stack, with the understanding that the whole thing is only ever going to be one card? The general rule, which is by no means absolute, is to keep the code as close to the object that uses it as possible. If a button has a unique scrip...

Re: Future of LC?

I was quoting Richmond. Well, before you get set in some sort of stereotyped groove, if you read my "moans" you will see that they ALL come down to lack of communication on LiveCode's half. The blog post I linked to explains the work done for LC 9, the roadblocks they had to overcome, and mentions ...

Re: Future of LC?

Apologies, I wasn't really thinking of you when I posted. I was quoting Richmond. ;)

Still, I do stand by my comment that if we want answers, it's better to ask directly than to speculate. Speculation always seems to take a negative turn.

Re: unicode ?

The fastest way is to write the html in a script and then set the htmltext of the field to the whole thing at once. If there are images involved it will still take slightly longer than if there are none, because the engine has to load the image and insert it, but at least it bypasses constant field ...

Re: Future of LC?

While not many folk hereabouts may feel the lack of a 2D Physics engine they should be fussed by LiveCode's failure to deliver on fund-raiser promises, and they should seriously consider whether they are prepared to "donate" more money next time the hat comes round. Before complaining it's wise to ...

Re: Moving Speed out of GPS data

If you use Google Fit, you could work magic too. :) Seriously, anything more than simple arithmetic is beyond me, but we have some brilliant math gurus in our community. There are several on the mailing list who may lurk here as well, and @-hh is no slouch either. Maybe he'll have ideas. I wouldn't ...

Re: Amazing prime! >^oo^<

Actually I used this site which, in real time, with a script, (I believe in javascript.. or php?), immediately gave me the result! https://primes.utm.edu/curios/includes/primetest.php How is this possible? If I were doing a web site like that I'd store a list of thousands of prime numbers and just ...

Re: Exporting standalone

I was just compiling an Android app today, I'm using LC 9.0.1, so I know that works. I think we need a Windows user to chime in, I've used up all my ideas. Wish I could tell you more. :(

Re: Exporting standalone

That should work. The only thing I can think of is to have you duplicate my setup, which doesn't include Studio. But since I'm on a Mac and you're on Windows, there may be slightly different ways of accessing the SDK. Look inside the Android SDK and see if you can find a file named "android" inside ...

Re: Moving Speed out of GPS data

I don't have a script, only an anecdote. During a recent hike, Google estimated my distance walked as 8.5 miles. I was going over some rugged terrain near the Mississippi River and had only actually walked the equivalent of a few city blocks. Looking at the tracking map later, Google showed that I h...

What LC version? I think that's the only question I haven't asked yet.

Re: Exporting standalone

I'm running out of ideas. Did you completely delete the other Java package? Also, you may need to restart LC if you haven't already. On my setup I have the Android SDK installed (command line tools only , no Studio,) and Java 1.8.0_171 jdk. That's all it took to get a successful Android compile. I'd...
