Re: LiveCode Multi-Search

I made a few edits to the Search button so that multi-word terms work in most places. I'll send it in PM and you can do what you want, or nothing, with it.

Re: Cannot copy paste a card in the Project Browser

I might be mistaken. Tried to see if in LC 7.01 this option was available and it is not. Still I would like to be able easy to clone a card so I am able to use a card as a template to create more cards that are only mildly different. Any idea's ? You already had it. :) "Clone this cd". You'll have ...

Re: SQLite and the different UTF-8

Anyway, I still have doubts. I have put in the preferences of, DB Bowser for SQLite, that the tables that you create are UTF-16. I have created a table with this configuration and I continue with the same problems. If I put textDecode (tData, "UTF-8") it looks correctly. If it's UTF-16, would not i...

Re: SQLite and the different UTF-8

For textDecode, you need to specify UTF8 which tells LC the database is in UTF8. Assuming your data is in a variable named tData, it would look like this:

Code: Select all

put textDecode(tData,"UTF8") into tLCdata
This will translate the UTF8 data into UTF16.

Re: SQLite and the different UTF-8

Livecode uses UTF 16, so any data you import from outside LC must be converted if it is not that format. Your databases are UTF 8 so try using textDecode() on the results before displaying them. See the dictionary for syntax.

Re: LiveCode Multi-Search

This is really useful, thanks for putting it together. Just curious, should the Dictionary pane automatically display the search results as well? It works fine if I duplicate the search term in the Dictionary search field. It's not a big deal, I'm just wondering if it's acting as expected. It's very...

Re: embedded audio clips pause

Good point. Isn't there a terminal command to see what's been written to disk recently?

Edit: On Mac, here's how: https://www.macworld.com/article/105808 ... ecent.html I'm not sure about Windows but it probably has something similar.

I just set the filename of a player to point to a 3GB 1 hour HD movie.
alwaysBuffer was set to TRUE.
I then deleted the file.
Started the player.
It played.
Dragged the controller near to the end.
It still played fine.

So, the answer appears to be YES.
Ohhh... Cool.

Re: Testing app Stops when installing on emulator

You need the most recent build tools, and possibly the one before that as well. There used to be a conflict with the most recent one but I'm not sure if that's been resolved yet. I have several versions of the build tools installed.

Re: Round app icon on Android Oreo

The names are correct. As I said, I haven't tried it yet but I think LC expects the icons to be loose in the Copy Files pane. If you put them in folders, try taking them out. You probably also need to include the legacy icons, which LC does recognize. Finally you may need to make changes to the defa...

Re: embedded audio clips pause

I don't know if a buffered audio file is completely placed in memory at once, or whether it buffers as it plays. I'd suspect the latter but you'd need to test it. What I've done in the past is store the audio as a custom property and write it to disk on demand. I used the tempfile function to create...

Re: Round app icon on Android Oreo

I haven't done this yet, but there is info on the web about how to create adaptive icons. You need two layers, one for background and one for the icon art. If you create an adaptive icon, you can add it to the Copy Files pane and it will be used. Also add icons for correctly-named legacy sizes, and ...

Re: Different results about urlencode(name of file) and detailed files

I get the same results. When text is imported from outside LC it is usually necessary to textDecode it first, but that isn't working either. I'd submit a bug report.

This brings up my pet peeve about the omission of "the" before property names. It can bite you if you aren't familiar with the entire dictionary.

Re: retrieve livecode code from standalone desktop app

Is there any way today to decompile a livecode compiled stand-alone software program? I know it gets encrypted when its compiled, so I sure hope it is IMPOSSIBLE to decompile. Nothing is impossible but it is very difficult to decompile a LC standalone. I remember when the new format was introduced ...
