Re: How to place a transparent PNG image over card image?

I read somewhere that LC does not support card-over-card, or put another way, image-over-image on the same card. Cards are like the walls in your house, they are structural and only one can be viewed at a time. The objects on the card are more flexible and can be overlapped. This should work in bot...

Re: Un-Caching URL results

Everything is lost after shutdown, the pendingMessages are wiped and the internet connection is closed. If you need to store the last URL for resend after shutdown then you'd need to save it to disk, but I don't think I'd repeat all the pending messages if there are duplicates. I'd just send a singl...

Re: Un-Caching URL results

The cachedURLs only apply to URLs downloaded with the "load" command, so there won't be anything cached in this case. The command isn't compatible with mobile anyway, so not much use here. Since the result reports empty on failure, see what is in "it" as well, and let us know what it says. You may b...

Re: erratic movement of controls with repeat

i ran Craig's test script on OSX High Sierra, LC 9.0.2. I ran 10 full runs and saw no difference in performance between them. I don't think it's LC or the OS.

I'd guess graphics card or CPU.

Re: erratic movement of controls with repeat

Repeat loops are slow and waiting inside one is slower. The repeat loop is blocking besides, never a good thing. You could try "wait 0 with messages" which at least will allow the engine to clean up inside the loop. More importantly, set the button's layermode to dynamic and set acceleratedRendering...

What ink does the image use? Just a guess, but the old bitmap inks have been deprecated, you might need to use one of the newer inks.

I agree, you'd probably get a faster response via Andre's contact info. I don't think he's a regular forum reader and if he hasn't set up forum email notifications he won't know you wrote.

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

Thanks, the picture helps. Is this graphic in a group? It looks exactly the way objects get clipped when they hit a group's margin.

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

It sounds like the only option then is to report the problem and see if the team can fix it.

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

@Lagi, you're probably right, as a Mac user I never need to update drivers manually so I forget about those. But back in the Old Days, the first thing always suggested for graphic issues was to update the driver.

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

I'd report this as a bug just to see if the team can fix it, but it sounds to me like the graphics card can't keep up with the required redraws. Since moving the control slower fixes the problem, that's probably the solution for now. Also, as suggested, you should be using the "move" command which i...

Re: Zoom IDE

I think the main point here is that LC is infinitely customizable. All its parts are built with the same tools you use to create your own stacks, so if you don't like a certain behavior you can customize it as you please. Some things are more challenging than others and require you to be familiar wi...

Re: What are you working on?

Three large projects I can't talk about due to NDA, except to say that one is university courseware, another is a game port, and the third is a hospital equipment tracking system. Aside from those, I just finished some updates to a pet boarding facility's software. I also make ongoing adjustments to...

Re: download the app

Do you mean an app created by LiveCode, or LiveCode itself? LiveCode is a development environment and only runs on desktop computers. The apps you create with LiveCode can be built for desktop computers, mobile devices, or web. Those apps can be used on your phone.
