Re: Printing to pdf issue

Back in the olden days, the first thing recommended for printing problems was to update the printer driver. Since this is only happening on one system, that's what I'd try first. If there isn't a newer driver, trying a different printer, if possible, may help narrow down the issue.

Re: Search Error Message

Palettes didn't used to gain focus unless you clicked on them, so the original lesson probably worked when it was written. I'm not sure if the new behavior is intentional or a bug. (I didn't actually try to test it.)

Max, do you mind if I throw this up on github?
For myself, I have no objections. I have frequently wanted to throw up on github.

Re: Play sound file with local notification

It's a system setting, the user has to turn it on. On Android notifications can be granular down to the individual app, I'm not sure about iOS.

Re: Privat Android Launcher

Launchers require things that would be difficult to do in LiveCode. It might be partly doable but I think it would be easier in Android's native Java. Android apps are limited to their own sandbox and I'm not sure you can even get a list of all the user's installed apps. Normally I'd use shell calls...

Re: Another way of assessing LiveCode

It's all about backward compatibility. I was just commissioned to update a stack I wrote ten years ago. I couldn't open it in LC 9 due to file format changes, so I opened it in LC 6. It ran fine. After saving it there I could open it in LC 9 and it ran fine there too. The LC team, Mark in particular...

Re: Hexagons and stuff

What is wrong with this line? if (rect pLeft,pTop,pLeft+pWidth,pTop+pWidth of this card) is empty then It doesn't make any sense and won't parse. Only containers (usually variables) can be empty. This passes a reserved word and a series of unnecessary variables. What's the goal? If the imported ima...

Re: FATAL EXCEPTION:android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException

There was a warning somewhere that LC didn't work with the latest build tools. If you still get the error, try installing the previous version of the tools.

Re: FATAL EXCEPTION:android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException

Try deleting the LiveCode preferences file here: ./Users/YourName/AppData/Roaming/RunRev/preferences That may allow the community edition to launch. Since the original error relates to Android resources, I wonder if you have installed all the required files. You need the build tools and the files fo...

Okay Fishface, I laughed. :)

If it helps, I went through the same agony during my brief and abbreviated experiment with C. My new rule is that any language that relies on excessive punctuation should be shunned.

Re: Data Grid or Table Field and suggestions

There is a tabAlign property that will center your images inside each tab. I'd start with a plain field. Import a png image for the circle. Set the tabstops of the field to as many columns as you need and set the tabAlign of each tabstop to center: set the tabAlign of field 1 to "center, center, cen...

Re: Show Card Command

I think another difference is that HC managed stacks on disk and LC keeps everything in RAM which runs much faster. Then as machines got faster so did the card display. That's usually an improvement except in cases like this one.
