Re: LiveCode
They're not taking away your current version, and you can keep using that until the end of time (or until you no longer have a computer that will run it) OK, as long as I stick to my old Hypercard-Project the free revMedia will do "forever" (meaning until His Seveness makes his next abrupt change)....
Re: LiveCode
Or a $99 license for the new LiveCode which can deploy to a platform of your choice (e.g. both Mac and Windows). Or you can deploy to iOS for just $99, a substantial drop in price compared to the high end pricing for revMobile. The store (http://www.runrev.com/store/?currency=dollar) tells me "-2-9...
Re: LiveCode
Good Bye runrev/LiveCode! :( My reason for using runrev was to reanimate an old HyperCard project to Mac OS X. A 30 days licence of revStudio was too short, but that free revMedia could have done it's job. And if I'd be successful in learning TransSript there would have been some project in the back...

Re: open stack not working in openstack handler
Thanks to Klaus, Walt and Mark for explaining "the default folder". Now I understand some of the oddities that occoured with ma two stacks calling each other. e.g: when I opened both of them from the finder or from "Open"-Menue some of the ionteraction worked, when I closed one of the two stacks, it...

Re: open stack not working in openstack handler
Hello Mark, What's mysterious about the defaultFolder etc? What's 'the current defaultFolder'? I never set any folder to be defaultFolder activly. So I guess the defaultFolder is the Folder the current stack is within. And both stacks that are calling each other are within the same folder. e.g. that...

Re: Best way to replace HyperCard and FileMaker 5.5?
Hello Mark, With the faster computers of these days, compared to 4 years ago when I wrote that quote, you won't run into problems that quickly. OK, at some 1500 cards HyperCard on my Mac SE (8 MHz, 4 Mb) needed ~30 sec to do a complete search in one specific field throu all cards. After changing to ...

Re: open stack not working in openstack handler
teststack1 could be a variable, while "teststack1" is a string for sure. Even in HyperCard, strings were supposed to be in quotes, regardless of whether they contained just one word or an entire phrase, but many people seem to have been unaware of that. In HyperCard, quoting your strings makes your...

Re:
Unlike HyperCard, Revolution does not work well with all data kept on cards. So, you will have to completely change your stacks, if they have more then several hundreds of cards. Hmmm... The HC-project I'm trying to reactivate in rev consists of two interacting stacks, one of them holding of some 2...

Re: open stack not working in openstack handler
Hello Mark Everything that could be wrong is wrong in your script. Thanks for the flowers *grmbl* I am not surprised at all that it doesn't work. The first script DOES work! Stack names should be surrounded by quotes. Thanks, I didn't know. In HC it was not necessary to set quotes. File names should...

Converting, when no HyperCard is available
Hello, I'm glad, I found runrev, so it might be possible to reactivate my HyperCard "database" on Leopard (and further on). History: for about 20 years I have written a combination of two HC-stacks (sending Messages to each other and exchanging information from their fields) to keep track of a colle...
