Commercial Externals and the Community Edition

Hi, Does anyone have any thoughts about the implications of using closed source, commercial, externals with the community edition of LiveCode? Is it possible under the GPL? I only ask because from the runrev FAQ; Can I use closed source libraries, components or embed LiveCode in a closed source appl...

Re: iOS specific documentation

Hi David, Personally, I think that the current one-minute limit on compiled iOS apps is ridiculous. There is no way to test, because the app quits by the time it has started up. Anyway, here are the release notes for iOS. I hope this helps. Mark Thank you very much Mark. It's funny, I poked around ...

iOS specific documentation

Hi, Is there any iOS specific documentation detailing what's currently implemented in LC 4.6.2? The trail version does not let me activate without purchase!!!!! The large PDF available for download does not mention iOS. The online docs do not mention iOS specific commands/functions. Sheezh - how har...

Re: LiveCode version for externals dev...

External support is pretty lacking, but if you already know C/C++/ObjC then you should be able to do what you need it to do.. Just remember that everything runs in a single thread and once your external code is called the Rev script is halted.. You would make system calls if you want the system to ...

Re: LiveCode version for externals dev...

Well Google is for sure. I'm not sure why I want need to reference a Carbon function at this stage. I'm not planning on doing anything outside of the API in external.h Unless I've missed something - quite easy to do when there is no documentation. LiveCode is not (fully) Cocoa then. I wondere...

Re: LiveCode version for externals dev...

Thanks shaosean I see that it's a callable function. Thank you for the warning about Mac performance. Doesn't sound good does it? Ok. I've had a quick look around the LiveCode website and can't find reference to Standard Handlers. Can't find mention in headers.h (I'm assuming here that the example t...

Re: Automatic Caller

Still looking for any ideas on this topic? Thanks. You are a very patient person. :D To call out I would use DTMF tones. You would need to detect pickup by the callee before you play your message. I suspect some form of hardware interface to a telephone modem might be required to detect the telepho...

Re: LiveCode version for externals dev...

I am testing in the demo version of 4.6, but now that I know the code is working I have just fallen back to 4.0.. If you writing externals for the Mac version be forewarned that the Standard Handlers cannot be installed and cause Rev's GUI to become unresponsive for that stack.. I think that kinda ...

Re: LiveCode version for externals dev...

Hi Davis, since externals are not developed with LiveCode but C/Java/C++ or whatever, I would say this is no problem! On the other hand I am not RunRev so this is just my personal opinion :) Best Klaus Hello Klaus, Thanks for the input. I can see from my post that my meaning was not clear. What I m...

LiveCode version for externals dev...

Hello, I'm just brainstorming a few ideas whilst I look into possible externals development. Can I develop externals with the personal version of LiveCode even if I would want to sell my externals? This affects the economics of a project, so it's quite important. I'm not looking to develop commercia...

Re: RevBrowser - snapshots: not good.

David: http://qurl.tk/lf Thanks for the link Mark. I wasn't being lazy  - I had searched on this topic and found my results not to be suitable for various reasons (wrong platform, proprietary, GUI etc etc). There were a couple of results from your keywords which led me to two potential tools ...

Hi Mark,

Do you have any recommended tools that run on the Mac? The tools would ideally be royalty free and re-distributable with an application.

Thanks, David.

Re: RevBrowser - snapshots: not good.

I would like to see the details of bug 4967 to see if there is any additional information, but it seems that I can not create an account to log in with. Again, any thoughts or suggestions on this would be appreciated. Hi Robert, I think the quality control site is only visible to developers who hav...
