Re: Database Tutorial for Beginners

I think most of the LiveCode database documentation is good for starting, but it very often lacks details that are even important first place. For example, in my eyes, it is absolutely essential that text is always encoded and decoded (see dictionary) when working with databases. This has not always...

Re: Find system language to localize

Well, on Windows 10 it is possible to retrieve the strings of a hierarchy of languages installed by the user/admin. The first line is just a priority. I am not sure about earlier Windows version since they all have been deprecated and are no longer well supported by Microsoft (including Windows 7). ...

Re: Test stack for audio formats on Mac and Android

Hi adxsoft I downloaded the test stack. Thank you for the work submitting. I am using Windows 10 (latest update). I can not produce any sound whatsoever with your stack on Windows. DId you check on Windows? Are there any sound files that should be selected? Or are they imported into the stack? Well,...

Swiss LiveCode User Group

Either I am interested knowing about a Swiss user group (German-speaking part of the country) or setting up such user group if there are enough people (starting from 3) who would like to join for regular or irregular meetings. Sharing some background about myself: My personal background with Hyperta...

Re: Interpolate

You have prices depending on size = x*y (width*height). ... I would not like to confuse readers of my question with the original question posted by Fermin regarding the chosen subject. My question just fits the keyword "interpolation". Thanks a lot for the quick answer, -hh. Of course, I was simpli...

Re: Interpolate

Thanks a lot for the answers to the interpolate question. I have the questions the other way around depending upon width and height of an object, the price for such object changes in a non-linear form. How to find a function that would approximate the price values found? I believe this question has ...

Re: Report in LiveCode

Well, I am quite experienced with FileMaker and I also liked the reporting tool. I had built myself a similar report generator, not finished enough to publish, but maybe... Let me explain a bit the logic I see in creating a reporting tool that is fully based on LiveCode script. The principle is very...

Re: OAuth and google Calendar

Very well done. :D I have tested this GoogleCalendarTest shortly (more extensively later) and it works "out of the box". The problem will be for developers to start getting accustomed to the Google Developer API creating a project, assigning the scope (here Calendar scopes) , receiving the client id...

Re: Livecode 9.0.1 Community for Windows IDE stuttering

I have this issue with the script editor since quite some time in Windows 10, and i will not move to Apple computers. I suggest turning OFF everything that has to do with autocomplete, etc. Sometimes, I use a separate text editor instead and then paste the code into the IDE editor. Keep all at bare ...

Re: Setting text style of disabled controls

Mentioning Material Design ist just mentioning one example of a well structured and platform-independent design school or "framework" given for free and developed for years. LiveCode promises to develop once and deploy everywhere. This in itself is actually huge. Now, what about UX/UI in this case? ...

Re: Setting text style of disabled controls

Richard: GMTA. What you describe is more or less where I was headed. I would very much like to continue the discussion on UX, Material Design, CSS, ... and how it could relate to LiveCode. Maybe, Richard, you could suggest which Forum would be suited and possibly move the discussion there. To me, an...

Re: Setting text style of disabled controls

Hi Richard, thank you for answering and raising the question to me. Well, it is simply a matter of choice whether a disabled button just has a grey text without any 3D effect, or not, or maybe has a light bluish or reddish grey when going into details of design. It will still "appear" to be disabled...
