Re: erratic movement of controls with repeat

it does show the pitfalls of trying to accommodate all these OS's, processors, etc. It does indeed. However, you don't want to fall down the slippery slope that Political Correctness did, where, in trying to keep everybody happy all of the time you end up with something that is so tame it is virtua...

Re: erratic movement of controls with repeat

Good diagnostic thinking. Possibly; but the problem is going to be how to work out whether the problem is the engine, the OS, or the interaction between them, as I, for one, know of no way to run a version of LiveCode without an underlying operating system. While this type of thinking is useful for...

Re: erratic movement of controls with repeat

this thread has nothing to do with HC Yet he mentioned it. Frankly, bringing up HyperCard , 20 years after (as you rightly point out FourthWorld ) after its de facto death, is ridiculous. in reply to a tangential comment about HC Oh, quite. And has it not occurred to thee that my comment was a tang...

Re: erratic movement of controls with repeat

HC doesn't run at all, at least not on any operating system made in the last 20 years. Well, Yes, but not a particularly helpful answer. And the explanation that follows seems a bit odd as I was moving things around on a Macintosh LC 475, System 7.1 with 4 MB RAM and a processor that was "slightly ...

Re: erratic movement of controls with repeat

I know LC is not an animation program I didn't know LC was a program at all: I thought it was a programming language wrapped up in an IDE. It is possible to do animation on my 1981 BBC Micro Model B using BBC BASIC . . . as it is in most other programming languages. One should be able to perform an...

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

IFF the graphic object is grouped (either by itself or in combination with other objects) surely the 'trick' is to move the group rather than the graphic? Of course that presupposes the graphic HAS to be grouped; if it doesn't, then ungroup it and you shouldn't get the "eclipse" that you are gettin...

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

Pretty clunky "over here" on 64-bit Linux (LC 9.0.1), and a sort of flashing effect at the leading edge.

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

There seem to be a number of variables there apart from LiveCode itself: Your computer's processor. Your computer's graphic card. How those interact with the version of Windows you have installed on your computer. It might not be a bad idea to run the stack on a more up-to-date machine and see if th...

Re: distorted graphics when using move or set loc

It is not clear whether you are moving a GRAPHIC or an IMAGE,

and it is not clear HOW you are moving it.

If you could explain these that would make any attempt at answer rather easier.

1. Teaching English as foreign language. 2. Meditating on the Bengali writing system. 3. Wondering whether I can get off my fat, lazy behind enough to work out a one-year school curriculum for LiveCode based on English and Scottish education department requirements. https://www.sqa.org.uk/pastpapers...

Re: Commercial product offer

I have found that with all the programming languages I have learnt textbooks don't help
much: fiddling around oneself and talking to more advanced learners has always served me better.

In this respect the LiveCode Use-List and this Forum are invaluable.

One way to get round the lack of a 'pause' command might be to have
two halves of your script in mouseDown and mouseUp.

Re: Pan Left and Right Audio Revisited

That presupposes your audio file has 2 channels (left and right), or you are able to play
2 sound files simultaneously.

As far as I understand, Livecode cannot play 2 sound files simultaneously.

And, I don't think LiveCode can access different channels saved in a sound file.
