Re: Delete part of text

Slightly misleading that, "Delete part of text" when really: delete part of the contents of a variable NOT, however, in the end it should make much difference. on mouseUp put "XXX.png" into ZZZ if ZZZ contains ".png" then repeat for 4 times delete the last char of ZZZ end repeat end if put ZZZ end m...

@Claus

I was writing that while giving 4 kids a dictation in an English class.

Re: Having trouble with http & ftp

Well . . . You can do this: on mouseUp get URL "https://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31774" put it into fld "ff" end mouseUp although ALL you end up with is RAW HTML. This does rather better: on mouseUp get URL "https://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31774" set the HTMLText of fl...

Re: Button Error

finding someone who's an expert in a topic AND who can communicate well
That makes me thing of universities stuffed full of Profs doing research who are completely unable to get anything of what they do across to their undergraduates.

Re: Reworked Tool Palette

OK, OK, OK . . . the grumbles about the backdrop that blocks the whole GUI need addressing . . . Here's a fairly crappy stack that will always be the width of the revMenuBar stack and have its left side inline with the revMenuBar stack, it will also "hang down" to where ever the bottom of the revToo...

Re: Reworked Tool Palette

decided not to go that direction Quite apart from ALL the other extremely clever stuff, the interface that does NOT hog the whole desktop is, I believe, one of LiveCode's greatest strengths. If an app takes over the whole GUI it should be a fully automated agent-led system, and NOT a RAD-IDE. Any "...

Not for me an interface that takes over the whole desktop: how would I be able to do the "app. dance" then?

alj8, I'd gladly share any information I had, but owing to being very very busy, and family problems recently, I have done NOTHING.

HOWEVER, I am grateful to you for "kicking me" so I can get on with an attempt.

Re: convert encode big5 text to utf8

If you enjoy working very, very hard, for a long, long time, the "other" way to do things would be to download ALL the Chinese Unicode tables: https://www.unicode.org/charts/ and ALL the big5 tables: http://ash.jp/code/cn/big5tbl.htm and write a mapping routine to convert from big5 to Unicode. This ...

Re: convert encode big5 text to utf8

I don't think LiveCode can do that. Unfortunately this is NOT a problem due to Unicode, it is a problem due to the differing origins of big5 and Unicode: WARNING! It is currently impossible to provide round-trip compatibility between BIG5 and Unicode. http://www.unicode.org/Public/MAPPINGS/OBSOLETE/...
