Re: Setting textSize in the clipboardData

I guess I am not understanding. If I have two fields, and in the first one I place some text of all sort of silly font styles, sizes and colors, and then in a button: on mouseUp set the clipboardData to the htmlText of fld 1 set the htmlText of fld 2 to the clipBoardData end mouseUp I get all sorts ...

I think you are looking for the "HTMLText"

Re: How to Take Total Control of the backspaceKey?

Try this. On a new card make a field with some text in it. Put this in the card script:

Code: Select all

on backSpaceKey
if the commandKey is down then answer "Your commandKey is down, you know"
  else pass backSpaceKey
  end backSpaceKey
Place the cursor in the text. Play...

Break Script editor into halves?

I really would love this. In debugging it would save so much scrolling. Like Excel, be able to split the script editor into two independent scrolling sections of user defined height. This way one could watch a portion of a script that calls another, breakpoints in either as needed, and see the flow ...

Re: Updating Footnoted Text

You may have to roll your own chunk delimiter, using offset (perhaps more than once) in its other forms. Or, Might you temporarily: replace "." with numToChar(166) in yourText Then do your sentenceOffset, and then restore the periods? Or something like that, I do not know if that is as straightforwa...

Re: Point Context

Jacque.

I can copy the button to another stack. Hah.

Its full name is "Breakpoint Context Menu". It has no script or custom properties. It has only default menuItems.

Deleting it as you instructed does work. It comes back if I close and reopen the SE.

I think I will tell the team.

Re: preOpenStack or openStack

Klaus.

I guess he means the documents folder, not file. This folder is unfettered, and usually does not require any special treatment regarding permissions, correct?..

Re: Updating Footnoted Text

The "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" must be a prequel to the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe". But "sentence" is indeed a new chunk expression in LC. I feel so much more powerful, now, because just a month ago I would not have known about it, languishing in v.6.7. Anyway, Bogs will track down...

Kids Coding

Todays Google gadget is "50 years of kids coding". I cannot seem to get any content by clicking on the animation, because "Safari Web Content" quits unexpectedly, but it seems interesting.

Craig

EDIT. Did it the old fashioned way:

Re: Is livecode dead?

Maybe right on the main LC home page there should be a big pink link "New to LC? Start here" to a simple page, friendly and with the steps to build a simple stack and a video doing so. Something much less ambitious than building the calculator. That takes too much time; the video needs to be five mi...

Re: Creating a randomizer that does not repeat picks

So much fun. The task you set for yourself seems deceptively simple. There are traps, and I wonder if you posted here because of them. Anyway, make a button and two fields on a new card. Name one field "deck" and the other "hand". Name the button "deal". Make the height of fld "deck" 15 lines. Put t...

Re: Why purge when making standalone

Jacque. I get that the standalone exe. would open the stacks of any and all attached stack files. But I believe, as a test, I commented out the exe. stack script, where there is a line opening the "working" stack. So there are no handlers referencing that working stack. I will check that again on Mo...

Re: Ignoring unwanted rawKeyUp messages

Hi. I have seen this in the use-list. I posted a simple handler there that indicated I could not reproduce your issue. I could not as well with the sample stack you posted. i get only one beep. I could add a line calling any handler I wished. What version of LC? What OS? I am in 8.1.6 on Mac OS 10.9...

Re: Why purge when making standalone

Jacque. check in the message box: there is a stack <short name> I will try that, but I mentioned I can start a standalone build in a brand new session, with only the splash stack open. Perhaps the process opens the other stack as part of its usual machinations, but then does that mean it opens it tw...
