I know that you can install mac os x on a regular pc since they both use intel proccesors now, but all the guides on the web seem to be very confusing or dont work. Does anyone know how i can do this? Perhaps this link? http://lifehacker.com/348653/install-os-...

I don't

I don't see why RunRev wants to keep this as rev-on.com service only.
That would not generate enough revenue to sustain for such investment.

Anyway, let us just wait for the September RunRev 4.0 launch.

The new irev engine vs CGI rev engine

Different between RunRev CGI and irev engine: - There is some kind of persistent irev engine running on the server (ireviam), but the engine will be still do the conventional loading/tear-off on each query/instant hit to the server. - The irev runtime works almost identical to CGI environment, you s...

Yeah, I'd like like to know if Rev intends to release the server side engine so those who run their own webservers could use it. In one of their newsletter titled "Are You On-Rev yet? Founders deal ends Friday" (via email), I've found this: "Once the irev technology is ready for full release we wil...

RunRev launched on-rev!

RunRev has just made the server-side xTalk available via www.on-rev.com. But it seems they are selling it as software-as-service, instead a commercial application, like RunRev Studio. It is still at the alpha stage, so can't say much about the company intension. But anyone has more information about...

I have just skimmed thru Pierre's codes sample, it uses php to interact with single revolution process, which has the benefit of fast respond time without the overhead of process startup. However, such framework is only good if you don't expect slow disk I/O (no need for disk read/write) or long dat...

While I admired all these effort to make long-running Revolution process possible at the server, the implementation has a few flaws: 1. MetaCard/Revolution built-in TCP/IP server socket used to listen to incoming traffic. The socket command in revolution is very robust to use as a "client", not real...

RunRev developing PHP alike server-side xTalk module?

I read somewhere months ago about RunRev intended to develop a server-side module (like apache mod) for xTalk scripting. It should be similar to how PHP mod works. Anyone? While I've been enjoyed using the CGI "glue" for many years, I have trouble to recommend it or even upscaling it when projects g...

I am on BBEdit 8.7.2 too, OS X 10.5.4 Intel.
The module did not show up after I've installed it, and hence the hack ;)

I should've given more credit to your module as I've "borrowed" a chunk of keywords from your Info.plist file.

How many programming language do you use regularly?

Beside of xTalk, what other language do you master?
Which language do you prefer if you program in two or more language regularly?

I didn't use them, can't comment on the stability.
For CGI beginner, it is a nice place to start as it is free.

You get what you pay for ;)

Hosting your RR CGI - free on memebot.com

Worth to mention that, if you wish to play with simple RR CGI server for free, memebot is open.

I have written up a short note for it, some 2 years ago:

(I am not associated with memebot in anyway)

Which is the best platform for RR CGI?

I have tried Fedora, Ubuntu and Mac OS X so far. I personally preferred Fedora. Ubuntu server runs well, although I have to grab and install a few more libraries and extensions to make it works, but it runs smoothly after that. I have not used Mac OS as production server, although the darwin engine ...
