Re: custom resize group handler

Bernd: I just tested your "Resize with handle" stack from the other thread and got the attached error on LC 5.5 Mac 10.6.8 when in browse mode and selecting the bottom gray circle and attempting to drag it. That's what I had done before. Maybe that's not what a user is supposed to do but that's the ...

Re: custom resize group handler

Thanks much Bernd. That works wonderfully. Exactly as expected. Much appreciated. The errors I had experienced referenced in earlier posts was when I was on LiveCode 4.6.x on Mac OS 10.6.8. I've recently updated to LC 5.5. I haven't retested the other code in this version. Thanks again for the handh...

Re: custom resize group handler

Thanks Mark. I'm still new to this and need help with concepts. If you could in any way actually make the required edits to the stack I attached that would help get me going. You refer to "pointer tool" and "browse tool". By "browse tool" do you mean the user's mouse? Hi, What you describe is exactl...

Re: focusColor and look and feel issues

Seems like the documentation needs to be udpated as the passage I quoted from the Dictionary is misleading. Regardless, is it documented somewhere exactly which properties do and do not have an effect in Native look and feel mode?

Thanks

Bill

focusColor and look and feel issues

I've been spending a lot of time trying to figure out why a field set with a focusColor was having no effect. I then saw mention in the dictionary description for "focusColor" the following: "If the lookAndFeel is set to "Macintosh" or "Appearance Manager", the focusColor affects only fields." I'm o...

Re: custom resize group handler

Thanks Mark but I don't follow. In case my description and the attached stack was not clear, I need a way for the user to resize a group of objects as indicated in the stack I provided. To be clear, the user would grab the resize handle within the grouped object and move it horizontally/vertically a...

custom resize group handler

I need a resize group handler. The code examples for this posted in the thread at http://forums.runrev.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5734&p=26344&hilit=resize+group+handler#p26344 aren't working for me. (The first doesn't operate as expected and the second one throws errors in the code.) I've attached a v...

Re: command click move window

I've not having success yet adapting the command-drag window code nicely provided here to a group. I need to figure out how to code a generalized routine that can apply to any group of objects set to be command-click-draggable. The code below doesn't work starting with the "put item 1of the location...

Re: cloning group

OK I see how lock screen prevents flicker during any intermediary steps. Thanks for the quick help.

Re: cloning group

Thanks! Looks like the advice I received to clone was errant as what I really need was to copy. If there are intermediary steps such as resizing the group, is there a special way of handling that before it gets displayed thus avoiding any flicker visual distractions?

Thanks much.

Re: cloning group

Also, yeah I'm aware of the need to quote literals, but I recalled reading about how LiveCode allows you to code without all the extra punctuation marks... so, I thought I'd try to see how it works in this respect. Anyway, I agree to be safe and to ensure the correct values are referenced literals s...

Re: cloning group

Excellent. Thanks Klaus. Also, is there a way to move the grouped vs just placing it on the new destination card? Placing it keeps a cloned copy on the source card. What I'd really like to do is simply move it. I searched the dictionary for "move" but that seems to show unrelated commands. Also atte...

cloning group

I have a project for which I was advised to clone grouped objects. There are many dozens of these groups. To keep the design of the project manageable, I need to place each group on its own card. I then need to place individual groups on the main card. Doing so via the code below causes the card win...
