Re: Creating full-sized Windows 8 tile for standalone app
Howdy!
You can build standard desktop apps for Windows 8 using LiveCode, but not the tile based "store apps" (formerly known as Metro apps) as of yet. Sorry. I think RunRev has it scheduled to be available for the future, but it may be awhile before we see it.

Re: Tab on return problem
I'm not sure that I can help, since I am using version 4.53, which is well before the updated field controls. What type of field is it? (plain, basic table, etc?) You should be able to attach the stack file by using a compressed zip file. Maybe someone will come along, able to assist. Regards, -Doc-...

Re: Help Us Take LiveCode Open Source
With LC now going open source for sure, maybe someone at RunRev would consider a very different approach to these support forums. Instead of potentially adding new sections to this already tangled mess, why not cull it back to just 4 or 5 instead? Why not move the existing messages into a read only ...

It's all good, Richard. ...or as Phil from Duck Dynasty would say: "Happy, Happy, Happy!" -Doc- P.S. I suppose that I might not have posted anything sarcastic at all if I had noticed that the two almost back to back negative posts written previously were from different folks named Paul. As with sarc...

Re: Help Us Take LiveCode Open Source
Well, I guess my sarcastic remark ruffled some feathers... I did not harshly or otherwise reply to anything having to do with the OP's misunderstandings, misgivings or possible lack of knowledge regarding the issue of LiveCode going open source. I let that dog lay, remaining silent for wiser minds t...

Re: Help Us Take LiveCode Open Source
Excuse me, but what have you been smoking? The problem is, nobody needs Livecode to do what can already be done with say... Objective-C, C# and Java.
Really.

Re: How to Colour a Tab button
Traxgeek, If you really want to see the ultimate when it comes to building custom controls and/or skinning goes with LIveCode applications, you'll need to pay a visit to the Tactile Media web site. Be sure to allow plenty of time for browsing and keep a towel on hand for the inevitable drooling over...

Welcome!
I think that you will find as you gain experience, when it comes to custom interface design, LiveCode is really hard to beat
...don't have a certain feature or look? Just roll your own.

Re: How to Colour a Tab button
Traxgeek , If you really need colored tabs and don't mind some extra work, you can simulate them easy enough using transparent buttons with hidden button images of your own design and with the benefit that you can place the "tabs" anywhere you want them (top, botton, or either side). I've included a...

Re: This might be useful for some (New)
Here is a simple, humble reminder to folks... Whether you are looking for help or just posting a sample to help others, it would be very beneficial and appreciated if you would use the legacy format whenever possible (presuming that the stack doesn't require any of the latest and greatest features)....

Re: Detect Running Application - Android / Iphone
I'm not an Android/iPhone developer, so I really have no specific advice to offer, but Mark offered what might be a possible solution in this thread, IF those platforms have a scripting capability to list running processes: http://forums.runrev.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13348&p=63985&hilit=running+pro...

Re: Pattern Match..?
Hey topcat888,
The short answer is... yes, and by using several different methods.
I've attached a sample stack showing at least two methods.
Hope that helps,

Re: Import file
I'm not sure that I can offer any suggestions about scanning and/or converting handwritten text, but if you want to use a scanned image of the text, it should be fairly easy although a bit time consuming. If you haven't yet tried the scripting conferences, I highly recommend that you do! They cover ...
