Re: A darker Background editor ! Or more colors to the existing one.

Hey, Andy,
I’ll have to pull Seth out again. It might have been that long since I started using text editors instead of the script editor.

Re: A darker Background editor ! Or more colors to the existing one.

I did and he was interested, but some things with the SE aren’t as easy to fix as others.

Re: A darker Background editor ! Or more colors to the existing one.

I threatened to do a session on this topic at LCG, but as long as we’re talking about it here: Seth works ok, but it has issues, so I’m not using it, and I haven’t wanted to use it strongly enough to try to fix it. It’s a great idea, but it would be even cooler if we bolted it more directly into the...

Re: Apple hosted content for iOS apps

Is there any reason why LC's dropbox library won't do it for you?

Re: Push Notification not working when app is open

There are a number of APNS-related issues. The one you are referring to is captured in QR10901. APNS needs effort for a lot of reasons. For example, silent push doesn’t work, either. Anyway, since you can’t receive a payload while the app is running, when you get the notification, you have to call h...

Levure does this, FYI. I'm not sure how, though.

Re: Deprecation of numToChar()

I didn't realize they had been deprecated. It would be good to have a legacy library for those deprecated features that might still appear in our projects. Then it isn't part of the core product, but we can still use them, perhaps with a warning.

Re: Is livecode dead?

Right. It also might be dead because it doesn’t advertise in paper newspapers, too.

Re: Cmd-G

I thought every program used this. It's "find a(G)ain". I can't think of any programs that I use that use the "F" shortcut that don't also have the "G" shortcut

Re: Slight issue with the sort command

I must have had a stroke. I am completely baffled by this conversation. The docs do not say you have to specify the sort type.

Re: Slight issue with the sort command

Code: Select all

sort thatList by the length of item 1 of each
I need to add “numeric” why?

That we are continuing to have this discussion is exactly why the docs need a note.

Re: Slight issue with the sort command

I don’t understand why sort by length would also require a “numeric” specifier. That’s what I think needs to be explained in the docs

Re: Slight issue with the sort command

Yes, that's a good reminder, because the datatype of a container and of a chunk of a container in LC is implicit to the operation, not to the contents. In the case of sorting a list by some property, in this case the length of each line, I think the intent is clear. If the sort is indeed using the w...

Re: Slight issue with the sort command

I think it definitely needs a dictionary note. I never would have thought that behavior would be normal. That seems completely counterintuitive, and would burn me. That is one of those things I would immediately change if I ever got a controlling interest in LC.
