Re: PushNotification

Push isn't always easy to get started, so Let's start with * You're building for iOS, right? * Are you testing on the simulator or a physical device? (Simulator won't work) * How did you obtain the push ID to use to send the message? * Are you sure this is the first time you have tried to install th...

Re: Designing Reports and printing them on Mac OS X

There's a chapter in the LiveCode Manual, and if you attend LiveCode Global, there just might be a session in May on it.

Re: Session Suggestions for LiveCode Global

I just did one for LCG, and it took me 10 hours to complete 1 hour. Maybe the next one will be faster. I think videos are more compelling and so they will be used more.

Re: Session Suggestions for LiveCode Global

There is free material for beginners. There is a lot of free material for beginners. This is a way to give them sessions at LCG that are just for them instead of being more in depth the way most of the sessions have been. Someone who is an LC beginner is not necessarily a development beginner, so I’...

Re: Printing Weirdness...

I’m thinking about maybe doing a session at LCG on printing, but I have to admit that most of you know a LOT more about the topic than I do (so maybe you should do the talk). Anyway, for all your LC Printing Knowledge, please email me everything you can think of (or maybe you should do the talk - I ...

I'm also thinking about
• An introduction to printing
• How to build a typical record list/input form stack because you are then one step away from hooking it up to a database

Re: Session Suggestions for LiveCode Global

In March's LCG I think I had a simple address book made in about 15 minutes, but the goal was different, to get everyone introduced to data storage, so the session was an hour.

Session Suggestions for LiveCode Global

Hey, beginners!

What sorts of sessions/classes would you like to see at the bi-monthly LiveCode Global online conference? What would get you to tune in and watch?

Re: Livecode Next release : Any fixed date ?

Since LC Global started last year, releases seem to be timed to sessions. Since we have a session this week I would think RC-1 might get out this week.

Re: A darker Background editor ! Or more colors to the existing one.

SE script editor SOS script-only stack ST sublime text Sorry, these three have been talked about so much together that I’ve started abbreviating them by default. I have always thought the topic of breaking scripts into behavior SOS’s, and using external text editors and frameworks and git are more a...

Re: A darker Background editor ! Or more colors to the existing one.

@bogs Trevor has instructions on how to get ST to update LC so that it reloads the SOS after you’ve saved it in ST. There are numerous dark themes in ST. I don’t like Trevor’s so I’m using Boxy, for example. Atom is definitely more refined than ST (and hacking it is similar to hacking ST), but as of...

Re: Knowing when to Sync 1 DB filed with its replica - How to?

There are lots of ways to do this, including embedding a modified date stamp in a record (that can be set via a trigger, for example), a hash, etc. As far as trying to only pull a single field from a single record, that will require more effort, and I think more network activity than just pulling th...

Re: Business logic / Rules embedded in SQL DB

The only way I can think of to even begin to attempt to do this is via triggers, and the short answer is that the process is difficult and error-prone, and would still require a lot of work on the client side to handle the output from the trigger. Triggers are important and very useful, and can be u...
