Re: system date format

I see. Somewhere I saw an example of getting the current time using "system date", not realizing that "date" gets the current time and "system" modifies its format. Never mind.

Re: Tooltip bug

I think Andy wasn't trying to hide the target, but hide the tooltip, which (like my following code) he hadn't tested yet. Perhaps a combination? on mouseEnter set the tooltip of me to "Now you see me" end mouseEnter on mouseLeave set the tooltip of me to empty end mouseLeave "of me" or the target d...

Re: On/Off auto-type in preferences

*If* that is the case, then it isn't likely to be fixed anytime soon would be my guess, if there is even a bug report about it listed in the quality db, I'll leave that for you to check on and submit. Where is this database? I've been using the Bug Triage forum for reporting bugs. Should I be using...

Re: Tooltip bug

Andy, hiding the target when the mouse exits isn't going to work. I don't want the control to disappear. The "toolTip" is just a text property, not an object in its own right. There presumably is a graphical object somewhere, but LC doesn't seem to give you explicit access to it. Jacque, I would thi...

Re: On/Off auto-type in preferences

I'm glad we're converging toward some sort of answer. But let me be clear: the bug isn't in the pasting, that's only a situation where the behavior causes a problem. The bug is in the automatic moving of the cursor. In my opinion, the best thing to do would simply be to abolish the behavior of autom...

Tooltip bug

If two adjacent and touching objects have the same tooltip, moving the mouse from one onto the other doesn't redraw the tooltip over the other object. In my case, I have a whole column of buttons with no gaps between them, and if they have the same tooltip, I can wave the mouse over them and the too...

Re: On/Off auto-type in preferences

In this picture, I have set up an if then statement with a comment I will be copying. I have indented line 4 with a tab before copying anything. All formatting options are off, per the previous set of pictures. https://forums.livecode.com/download/file.php?id=10059&mode=view As you can see in this ...

DST woes

I'm having a devil of a time converting a broken-down (e.g., dateItems format) UTC time into seconds since the Unix epoch. The convert command assumes all time formats except seconds are in local time. It should be possible to do something like this: convert t from dateItems to internet time put 0 i...

Bug in dictionary browser

If I follow a link from A to B, click < to go back to A, then follow a link from A to C and click < again, it goes back to B, not A. I don't know if this is intentional, but this isn't the usual function of a back button, and it's not what I expect to happen.

Minor search bug

In the script editor, if I hit Ctrl+F and type something into the Find, then click More, what I typed in isn't transferred to Find What entry in the Find and Replace dialog. If I close that dialog and hit Ctrl+F again, though, what was in the Find and Replace dialog is transferred back into the Find...

Hm, looks like noone is actually interested in the solution.
I am interested. That's off in a completely different direction, so I'll get to it when I'm at a good break point. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know if it works for me.

Re: On/Off auto-type in preferences

I think I'm being misunderstood. Bogs, you were pasting in a different situation, where there wasn't already an indented line. The bug is simply this: clicking at the start of a line that already has indented text in it does not place the cursor in column 1, but on the first non-blank character. It ...

system date format

The "convert" command documents the "date" and "short date" formats as month/day/year, where the year is two digits. This is correct. The "system date" and "short system date" functions are documented the same way, but they actually produce a four-digit year. If I had my druthers, "date" and "system...

Re: Line numbers not scrolling in script editor

I don't see how. You would have no way of knowing that the line numbers were wrong. It's simple. The script editor gets into a state where I can scroll the script with the mouse wheel or the scrollbar, but the numbers to the left just sit there. When it is in this state, it affects every script that...

Re: On/Off auto-type in preferences

Bogs: you must have autoformatting on. When I do what I described, and then hit Tab, it inserts a tab character, and tab stops in the script editor are set at every eight characters, which is an excessive indentation level. Also, I see in one of your pictures that you select a line by dragging from ...
