Re: Test button greyed out?

OK, Java 8 installed and android bits included, but TEST still greyed out and simulator still will not produce a working apk. The apk produces a parsing erroe on device. The app (at this stage) is just the stack and a picture.

Re: Download which Android tools?

I did that, Jacque. The present situation is this. Win 10, Java 8, Android 4.0.3. Java & Android have been deleted and re-installed. Android & Java paths are now showing in LC - Mobile Preferences. The Test icon & in dropdown toolbar menu are still greyed out. Build for Android (only) set ans an APK...

Re: Why am I seeing this?

Thank you Klaus & Jacque, I looked in the dictionary, but never thought about it being a widget. Silly me.
That seems to answer the problem. I can move on.

Re: Test button greyed out?

Hi Panos, the items are greyed out, as I would expect, if the Test icon is greyed out. The problem is before this stage. The Preferences - mobile - has the correct SDK path, but the (uneditable) JDK path shows none. It was installed in the default folder as stated in a lesson. The SDK (Studio, becau...

Test button greyed out?

The SDK and JDK have been installed and set up as best I can, as no up to date lessons applicable.
The TEST button on the Livecode tool bar is still greyed out and I need to simulate the mobile app I am working on.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Download which Android tools?

Fine, Studio and a compatible sdk and JDK are installed, but how do you set up the emulator bits (the lessons are outdated) so the greyed out TEST button on the Livecode tool bar becomes active?

Re: Why am I seeing this?

The Nav Bar is the control that has this picker issue. I have just looked at both with the object inspector. The SVG does not appear to have such a picker as my screen shot.
I don't think I am mistaken.

Re: Why am I seeing this?

As I have more pressing issues to resolve and think the Nav Bar is not the tool for me, see my last reply, I will leave the bug report to some one else. I am not familiar with the process anyway and cannot wait for it to be resolved. Thank you for your confirmation of the issue though. I am astonish...

Re: Why am I seeing this?

Hello Klaus. The version is 8.1.8 on win 10. I cannot see any hint of a scrollbar. I am in fact trying to see the purpose of the Navigation bar, for my purposes. My app will have control icons where the bar would be, top of mobile screen. However, the icons are not repeated throughout the applicatio...

Why am I seeing this?

I attach a screen shot of the icons I see when I search the list for suitable alternatives. As I hope you will see, bottom right is a semi transparent rectangle of a few of the possible pre-made icons. Oddly, there is no way to scroll through them. I discovered that if I click on a bottom one, it re...

Re: What is the best approach?

I have listened to what has been said and for the moment, I will hold them in the back of my mind. No right or wrong answers there. On thing was clear to me. The actual app and its purpose/content will affect the approach. I had, sort of, thought of this. I expect there will be 3 versions of layout ...

Re: What is the best approach?

Thank you Jacque, I will work on my old Samsung S4 screen size to see how things develop, before making a final decision. I had planned to explore layout dependent on phone/tablet/laptop, though not in the initial concept stage. I have only written design software for laptop + screen sizes, so this ...

Re: What is the best approach?

Thank you ForthWorld, that is a most helpful answer.
It gives me a clearer direction to plan my app. A bit of lateral thinking is required to resolve the detail.

What is the best approach?

I am starting an application that will run on android devices. At this time, I have no interest in I phones, although I should plan for that option in terms of screen sizes I need to allow for pc's and Mac size screens as well. Should I allow for the smallest phone screen with my layout, or differen...
