Re: How to test whether a variable is empty

I must confess to being completely baffled by the concept of needing to know whether an undefined variable is empty in the context of being undefined versus "empty". However, maybe the variableNames function is helpful to you: if "undefinedVariable" is not in the variableNames then answer "undefined...

But this seems to work:

put someVariable + 0 into newVariable

If "newVariable is zero", then someVariable is empty.
What do you get from

Code: Select all

put 0 into someVariable
put someVariable + 0 into newVariable
?

If you want to sum a column to get the aggregate value, it's not one line but pretty lean:

Re: Problem with dateItems and math?

https://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4941 says dates currently work between 1970 and 3000 cross platform. Mac users have a wider range of usable dates but not strictly supported. It looks like your time machine isn't seeing the year 2519 as a date any more, so treats the dateItems values as ...

Re: How to get started with ... everything?

@SparkOut : 64-bit windows processes cannot load 32-bit DLLs (and vice-versa) - so (as you already figured out) you need to include the 64-bit version of the DLL in the relevant code folder to work with the 64-bit engine. The subsequent error would appear to be a bug in the LCB VM - try a version o...

Re: How to get started with ... everything?

@LCMark thanks very much. I will try when I can, but currently I am away taking part in the Screwball Rally, a charity fundraising ecpedition, dressed as Shpock, along with 3 other Trekkers driving around northern Europe in a converted Starship. https://www.screwballrally.co.uk/ https://uk.virginmon...

Re: How to get started with ... everything?

Thanks to a suggestion from Trevor, I can confirm that the library is working fine on LC 9.0.4 (on my Windows 10 64-bit laptop).

The problem seems to be with the 64 bit engine version of LC 9.5

Re: How to get started with ... everything?

Hi everyone, hoping for some more help. After a long hiatus with trying LCB, I have revisited this interface board and the LCB wrapper to the provided dll. Using now LC v 9.5 I can't get it to work any more. It no longer works with either the self-same scripts cut and pasted from before on this thre...

Re: HDMI touchscreen - Raspi Zero W mouse control?

Thanks Hermann. I guess it is not possible to use an external HDMI monitor that happens to have touch input as if it was just a mouse wired to the Pi via USB input. Ah well, nice idea.

HDMI touchscreen - Raspi Zero W mouse control?

Does anyone (Hermann) know if it is possible to connect a Raspi Zero W to an external HDMI display monitor with touchscreen capability? There would be a fullscreen livecode app running on the pi and users would drag a few buttons round the screen. Is it possible to use an external touchscreen with p...

Re: Size and Position Pane - Unstoppable Incrementation

Runaway "activities" happen quite a lot for me in different guises at random intervals on Windows here too. The most frequent is clicking the scrollbar up or down arrow (once) in the script editor and have the editor pane scroll past the code you want all the way to the top or bottom. I don't know h...

Re: Browser Widget LC button to fill and submit form

Well you can't go wrong with help from Hermann, but if your objective is to log in and download data to view in LiveCode rather than interacting with a browser widget, you might find it possible to do this directly in LiveCode script (as opposed to LCB and/or javascript to leverage browser widget fu...

Re: the cursor becomes invisible in windows

It works in the IDE on Windows 10 for me. I haven't gone as far as compiling a standalone to test for the OP. I'll maybe get round to it later.
