Re: LiveCode Marketing Suggestions

The list posting is fully automated. I assume posts to other places could do similarly. Then no one has to worry about it. Maybe you know how, Richard? I don't. Exactly. I don't. And it seems no one else here does. That this forum can also be sent via email is a feature built into phpBB. Someone on...

Re: LiveCode Marketing Suggestions

Um . . . I do feel that LiveCode have declined re their out-reach recently. What copy-n-paste do we want to see that we could not do ourselves in less time than asking them to do it? Copy/paste? I would think it would be easier to just automate the posting to post in all venues. Might be. Feel free...

Where did Fraser go?
I believe Canada was mentioned in a post on the use-livecode list.

Re: LiveCode Marketing Suggestions

As long as we're still doing thread necromancy on this one, I've change the OP title to better reflect that actual discussion.

Re: Is livecode dead?

i see labview too on that list, but that aint a language. It's pulling lines from one to another(can be still very difficult this program). And the executable then is a C++ or C type. One could say that about all scripting languages as well, since they're pretty much just glue between routines comp...

Re: Is livecode dead?

Just a quick look at the number of blog posts on livecode.com; 2016: 51 blog posts 2017: 11 blog posts 2018: 3 so far... :| If this trend will continue - what can we expect from LC next year? If we're willing to pay them to write blog posts instead of code they may be willing to slow down coding to...

Re: Is livecode dead?

Other good news is that LC is back on the TIOBE Index, making this the first year I can recall that it's been there at least have the months of the year so far: https://www.tiobe.com/tiobe-index/ Considering that there are many hundreds of languages, and that many alternatives to LC aren't on the TI...

Re: Printing to pdf issue

I had completely separate issues previously when trying to compile it in LC 8.1.8, like the fonts coming out all the wrong sizes. Given that all the features had worked previously for so long on 7.0.6, we stuck with it. If the issues you had fit this recipe, please feel free to add any relevant det...

Re: Add pref for renaming behiors

Been a while, but it turns out that HC stacks do not have an ID property at all. Only windows do. Asking for the id of a stack throws an error. You have to ask for the id of the card window. In any case, that id is permanent, and does not depend on the number of cards or the makeup of controls on a...

Re: Double title bars on Mac

There are workarounds, but IIFC this should only happen in apps that support tabbed windows. If LiveCode does not it should be able to notify the OS of that, and this behavior will no longer risk confusing end users.

Anyone here know the bug report number for this?

Re: What is the best DE for using Livecode with Ubuntu 18.04?

Richard, the release notes list supported distros without reference to desktop environment. Those distros all make a variety of DEs available for use in the mainstream release that Livecode officially supports, including KDE. I can understand that having a variety of DEs and a variety of window man...

Re: Printing to pdf issue

Lc7 is old as Richard puts it, but suggesting upgrading doesn't really answer his question. The question was about diagnosing and hopefully fixing an issue. I don't have a fix, and didn't offer one. What I suggested was for diagnostics. If the problem no longer exists in the current version, even b...
