Re: Upload a field using ftp?

That statement is simply a URL. What would you expect it to do? Should LiveCode download it? Should LiveCode upload to it? If the latter, what would it upload? To get and put data to and from URLs see the "get" and "put" commands in the Dictionary. Also, depending on the specifics of your app, you m...

Re: Upload a field using ftp?

Is that the full statement?

And no error checking following it?

Re: Upload a field using ftp?

Without seeing the code you're using it will not be possible to advise on how to improve it.

Re: [New Book] LiveCode Advanced Application Architecture

I like to encourage use of TaskSel for new sysadmins to set up LAMP. Makes for a much simpler tutorial, since you only need one line to install TaskSel, one word to launch it, then follow the on screen instructions.

Re: WILL LIVE CODE WORK AFTER BREXIT?

Names have a way of crossing borders, so one should not read too much into names alone. That said, "Ivan" and "Gregori" are far more common in Russian-influenced countries than in Serbia. FWIW the OP's IP appears to come from a VPN exit node in the UK. Of course there are many legitimate reasons to ...

Re: WILL LIVE CODE WORK AFTER BREXIT?

Ivan, ask Gregori if he works on Savushkina Street. Without any explanation offered by him or even requested by you, the claim sounds like provokatsiya.

Re: Create a handler in a control programmatically.

Would behaviors do the trick? Then you have code in one place, easily assignable to any number of objects as needed.

Re: Create a handler in a control programmatically.

The script of an object is a property, so common property assignment syntax will do what you need: set the script of btn 1 to tSomeVariableContainingAScript That said, dynamic code is notoriously hard to debug and frequently a disproportionate source of problems during long-term maintenance of a cod...

Re: Reworked Tool Palette

Why the single-window paradigm works well for other systems but not LC is something that's been discussed often. Rather than re-write that again, I did a quick search - see notes about single-window IDEs in these posts: https://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31657&start=15#p172439 https://f...

Re: Server loop avoidance.

Use a request-and-reply protocol like HTTP and you never need to worry about how to handle this on the server.

If you choose HTTP specifically, you also get a vast universe of tooling, docs, and standardization as well.

Re: Reworked Tool Palette

Probably. They wrote "reworked", not "redesigned". I'm guessing mostly internals to allow the window to be more readily extensible.
