Re: How to create scripts for buttons that execute arithmetic operations
I'm working on a project that includes constructing a simple calculator app with LiveCode. I followed the tutorial and successfully created a basic interface with buttons and fields. However, I am unsure how to build the script for the buttons to conduct the arithmetic calculations. There are dozen...

Re: Is a good idea?
LC and C is more and AND than an OR.
You can build interfaces in LC far more quickly, and if you need the raw horsepower compiled C offers you can use it within LC's externals interface to have the best of both.

That's a good point, but I think that AI is not just a robot. "AI" is a marketing term referring to a wide range of software going all the way back to the Expert Systems of the '80s. What marketers are calling "AI" today are regenerative algorithms, consuming large amounts of other people's work to...

Re: Database using only native Livecode?
Determining the fitness of a given solution will depend on the problem. What does the app do? How much relationality is needed? Would simple lookups suffice, or do you need multiple types of joins? Maximum data size per record and per collection? Will the data need to include binary types? Single or...

Re: Which database
LC comes with a build-in SQLite engine, so this might be the best option for a single user DB. However LC supports MySQL, postgreSQL and many other database engines. Non-SQL database are suitable? There is a CouchDB library available in these forums. https://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t...

Re: Reliable IOS and ANDROID pdf viewing
The current one that comes close to working is having a google embed which works on both platforms but only 80% of the time. Is there a way to make this option consistent? Possibly, if we can determine the difference between the working and non-working instances. Do you find patterns to the failure...

Behaviors can also be nested.
The most complete representation is a vast spiderweb of connections, less instructive than a simplified model designed for learning core concepts.

What about the posting of new user TJF above? I don't even understand what the script does, or might do if the syntax was correct. :-) Whether that relatively new account's one post is spam or not would require someone running it. This may be a good moment for the new account to clarify their earne...

To evaluate potential bot activity, clicking an account name will being up a summary profile, with a link to the account's posting history. mrcoollion has written more than 700 posts here, often quite good and as far as I can tell all with apparently good intention. The Internet is overrun with bots...

Best of all, the style property is persistent. Set it once, save it, and that's the mode it'll open in forever.stam wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 5:58 amI’ve always usedand it always works fine in preOpenStackCode: Select all

Re: Exporting SVG images?
So is this worth an enhancement request, to add a sixth format to the "export" command? It would take quite a while for the team to work through their current queue to get to it, so we have time to draft a good actionable spec. Unlike raster formats, SVG isn't limited to bitmaps. Indeed, it's most ...

Use the stack's style property and you'll need no code at all.
