Cookies and Sessions How-to?

Hello, Is there a good resource explaining how to use cookies and sessions? Especially one that covers how to write a login system using them? I've been searching and so far I'm not finding anything. Don't know if I'm not using the correct search terms or just overlooking the obvious. Thanks in adva...

Re: Kubuntu 22.04

tetsuo, try adding the -ui flag to your command. I can't use the installer the "GUI" way any more but it runs and installs properly using the -ui flag. The installers launch for me but get stuck, so we don't have exactly the same behavior, but even if it doesn't result in a successful installation,...

Re: Kubuntu 22.04

Downloading usually clears the executable bit. chmod 755 to make it runnable. I guess you missed the part of my post where I said that I made it executable. I wish it was that simple. I also ran LDD against it and got the following: linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffefe197000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-lin...

Kubuntu 22.04

Just tried to install LC 9.6.9 (64 bit) on Kubuntu 22.04. Made the download executable and in the terminal typed: sudo ~/Downloads/LiveCodeInstaller-9_6_9-Linux.x64 Nothing appears to happen. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? Is there a log file that can be looked at? Are there required libraries th...

Re: New M1 CPU & LC

Apple has switched architectures many times: 68k to PPC, Classic to Cocoa, PPC to Intel, and most recently Intel to M*. Each time they've provided a compatibility layer to help devs make the transition. And each time, the LiveCode engine first uses the compatibility layer, and then a native version...

Re: New M1 CPU & LC

Well, you are not really up to date! :-) Starting with LC 9.6.8, published in June 2022, LC supports the new architecture as universal binary! https://livecode.com/livecode-9-6-8-stable-m1-and-onwards-apple-architecture-support/ You're right. I did not know that it had been added. I do notice this ...

Re: New M1 CPU & LC

Hello, Is LiveCode IDE compatible with new M1 CPU Mac models? Cheers, Louis It occurs to me that this question was asked about 2 years ago and we haven't seen a LC version that compiles Mac apps that are Apple Silicon native and that just seems a bit weird because, doesn't LC use Xcode in order to ...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!

Fortunately there's now a replacement for the GM. Currently in the megabundle, and hopefully soon in the full LC10 package. https://livecode.com/responsive-layout/ Hmm. I dunno. I mean, isn't that just moving the goal posts? I don't wanna buy the megabundle and I don't want some future thing, I wan...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!

OMG. I just ran into this bug again. I can't believe this. It should be shameful and embarrassing to LiveCode at this point. I was able to close my stack without saving (I lost one new button in the process) and then I opened it back up and ran "revCacheGeometry true" and "revUpdateGeometry" command...

Re: Please explain the logic behind the starter plan price?

Hi everyone So I can get 1 platform for £7.99 + Vat but if I go to two platforms it goes up to £24.99 + Vat. I would have expected that the price at most would have doubled. I would have liked to have both Windows and Mac platforms but there is no way I am going to be paying £24.99 + Vat it does no...

Re: Best way to support LiveCode?

I have contacted support re having a new forum heading for showcasing peoples creations. Hopefully this will get some traction. That's cool that you got a new forum section added. Do you see this as helping to spotlight cool things that people are doing with LC outside of these forums? It's my opin...

Re: letsencrypt and livecode hosting

Yes. I have Let´s encrypt certificates installed on two of my hosting accounts. What i noticed i when communicating with the hosting support is, that some of my request were solved, but i did not get an email about that. The automatic reply always arrived. Maybe the certificates have been already i...

Re: Best way to support LiveCode?

I appreciate the suggestions / discussion that this post has sparked. Now that I know where the working donate link is, I have added LC to my spreadsheet of projects & software that I make annual donations to. (I may still sign up for the annual LC Community Plus subscription instead of a donation.)...

Re: Best way to support LiveCode?

But what is it about the java that would stop you? (I mean it's not like you have to actually see any of the java). I can't always depend on a JVM to be installed (and I don't always have the rights to install it) in some of the places where I use the apps I've created with LC. The fact that LC app...

Re: Best way to support LiveCode?

There is a Donation option on the Download page for the free and open source Community Edition: https://livecode.org/download-member-offer/ Cool. Thanks for pointing that out. When I Googled for "LiveCode donate" this page with the dead link is the top result that was coming up and I'll confess, I ...
