Cascade button - items with 'text' formatting

Hi, I am looking for a reference to guide me in using text in cascade buttons. I am trying to put dates into a cascade button and learned that the '/' causes the text to behavior differently. I see a reference to adding check marks to the items in the cascade button using '!c"/ Is there anyway to di...

Re: Open stack error message

Jacque, Thanks for your reply. The eye sees only what the mind is ready to see... I think is 'kinda' the quote I see my mistakes with the term 'substacks' and this is why changing to a 'stand alone' - i get errors! I am not a professional coder, so i appreciate the education. Wow. Thanks. John.

Re: Open stack error message

So I think the whole issues was that there must be some problem with the firewall since I do not get this error on other comupters.
I did replace the word substack
I am using substacks/splash stack so I can save files in a standalone.

Thanks for the help.
Sorry I was not entirely clear.

Re: Open stack error message

So I know, as I reread the messages, I am not very clear. I have a 'splash stack' - an main stack that opens and then should open a substack: on openStack put the substacks of this stack into allsubstacks put allsubstacks into field "Stack List" -- this puts all the substacks in a list field so I ca...

Re: Open stack error message

Thanks Craig, I tried as you suggested open stack "stack name" and same result. The handler is actually in a list field. I checked the var and it is correct. The correct text is in the var (checked text and num of chars to be sure it was correct). The correct stack does open with the error, so that ...

Re: Recording audio with a microphone

Klaus,
I did not have QuickTime installed.
I installed QuickTime and ... it works.
As others have said so many times in this forum, "Klaus, you are a life saver!"

Thanks so much.

Recording audio with a microphone

Hi, I was wondering if someone could direct me to a sample stack so that I could look at working code/script with regards to the following: I would like to record voice from a microphone and save it to a file. Sounds simple, but I have had trouble doing this on my own. I have reviewed the examples i...

Working with Dragon Dictation

Is there any way to 'improve' the use of Dragon Dictation with liveCode. I would appreciate any input. I am not sure if this is the correct Forum to post this to. If not, where should I post this? Thanks!! Basically, I can not 'dictate' into a LiveCode 'text field' - an error occurs- 'Dictation not ...

LiveCode saving as or .exe vs stacks.livecode

Read before jumping to conclusions, please --- a 'reply' to an old post ... I read "HyperCard is Dead" - ok, I'm cool with that. "LiveCode" is, well, as obvious as the name - is "live". But, hear me out. Writing a stack for us newbies is fun and exciting. And from what has been 'talked' about with r...

Re: How to get image from folder

feelself, I'm not trying to be a know-it-all, but I've had the same issues and frustrations. What I've found helpful is to actually follow a script and see what information is given and in what format for example the "defaultfolder" - assign that to a variable and either 'put' the variable into the ...

Re: Changing Tools

Hi, Thanks for your suggestions. I was playing with the 'Message Watcher' under the development menu and noted that the mouseEnter message is created/passed when moving the mouse into a stack irregardless of the tool, which is not the case for buttons, fields. So I made a substack with the script tr...
