okay here's the source code for the game, there's alot of room for optimizing so I believe you could easily get smooth scrolling working with a few tweaks :-)

In the spirit of me recently releasing the source code for my game Gladiator Trials II, I noticed I missed the reply to this thread last year. Is anyone still interested in the source code for a platformer? I'm 100% positive the source is unoptimized and messy with plenty of bugs, but it would be a ...

ok, here's the link to the game's source code: http://www.gladiatortrials2.com/files/gt2_sourcecode.zip This contains the full version source code (.rev files) and the demo resources of GTII. I've also included an early alpha build of GTIII which was unreleased, it shows off a new lighting and anima...

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I'll begin the hunt for the source and throw it online shortly, hopefully by weeks end :-)

Sourcecode

It's been ages since I've visited these forums or used Revolution, just wanted to pop by and see if anyone would be interested in the source code for Gladiator Trials II? http://www.gladiatortrials2.com The game has been on the market for almost 18 months now and has sold really well. I figure a sou...

Thanks Malte and Tom for the kind words. I'm sure a fair size of code could be reduced when using the Animation Engine :) I'm planning on releasing the source code for my first shareware game (Gladiator Trials II) sometime next year. It's not a platformer, but hopefully will be of interest to revolu...

Well I guess I'll throw my example out there. Not sure if it stacks up to what Malte has, but better than sitting on my harddrive rotting away :P It doesn't use the Animation Engine, but it should show some example of what is possible in revolution. The code is a mess, it was done a few years ago no...

Thanks for clearing that up. My feelings are that the asking price for the update, even with the discount, isn't worth it for 2.8.1 -> 2.9 (for me personally at least). I guess I'll just wait for a better discount/special or for 3.0 :D BJB007, the bugs are listed online: http://quality.runrev.com/qa...

Your "usual version" is judged coming from your lack of background in xtalk languages. I don't mean to be harsh, but from all your posts you are wanting revolution/xtalk to be c/c++. Basically your asking for xtalk to take away the one thing that makes it stand out from the "usual" programming langu...

Upgrade to 2.9??

I received an email recently saying that I was required to purchase an upgrade in order to use 2.9 on release. I thought if you held a 2.7+ key that you got 2.9 for free? I have a 2.8.1 key and thus from what I read understood I would be able to upgrade to 2.9 for free. Has this changed? Or did I si...

I've done platform games in both hypercard and revolution, the only problem with both is trying to get smooth scrolling implemented, as in the player will always be at the center of the screen. It hitches too much to have this work for me. The way I worked around this was scrolling a large portion o...

Mac Version (beta)

Ok, just compiled a Mac OSX version, and I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. Willing testers can get it at: http://www.gladiatortrials2.com/files/gt2_demo.dmg The only concern I really have is the full screen/resolution code. I'm using cscreen which was recommended several times on the mailing list...

Gladiator Trials II - RTS/Sim/RPG - OSX Update

Ok, I've been a fellow Rev user for a few years now, and posted about this game a few times on the list over the years. Well I'm glad to announce that I have finally finished it, while being perfectly honest I believe it's one of the most shining examples of Revolution out there for games  I h...

There's actually only two options for PNG in Paint Shop Pro, non-interlaced and interlaced. I never changed those as I never saw a need, and all the images are PNG. I also noticed Rev had issues with certain options, which was one reason I always made sure to never change them. But thanks very much ...

Jan, Thanks for replying, How exactly do you grab the crash logs? The only method i was presented with was sending it to Microsoft. I'm sure it was much easier/clearer in previous Windows, maybe it's just been too long since i needed to grab a crash report. Once i get that clear I will post a report...
