Re: Can Livecode Create Menubar Apps?
@ dunbarx I ran the Mac Menu Sampler.livecode and it worked well for me. I'm using LC 9.6.3. I think the current version is 9.6.4 or 5. I have an LC Mac app I'm developing in which I was looking for a way my users can give commands to my app while busy using some other app, such as a text editor, br...

Re: Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles
jacque, Re: "link to your videos and also this thread in the forums." Last time I tried to provide a link on this forum it did not appear. I was told I don't have the privilege to post links. I'll try it again...here is the link to many YouTube videos illustrating a variety of LC bugs when using mul...

Re: Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles
My previous experience with submitting an LC bug leads me to believe it will involve several detailed descriptions and back and forth communications over the course of weeks or months. I have no doubt there are simple bugs that are widely experienced by users which can take only a few minutes to elu...

Re: Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles
Thanks for those details. Bug report numbers so we can follow the discussion? I'm not inclined to file a bug report to LiveCode. I've learned how to workaround and live with the single monitor limitation of LiveCode. Frankly, I just don't have enough confidence that if I put in all the work necessa...

Re: Player won't stop playing file, with 'wait' seconds
jacque: Thanks for the help. Although your sample code works well with a simple audio player which I coded using your example, it doesn't work with a far more complex stack like mine, where I play a sequence of tunes loaded into a field from a list of files on the hard drive, for a specified length,...

Re: DataGrid How To Delete A Row
dispatch deleteLIne to group "source" with "1,2,3"
Does not work for me. It only deletes one line and I cannot tell which it will be. Sometimes its 1 and sometimes its 3.

Re: Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles
richmond62: if you have used LC in a consistent manner with multiple monitors which manifests no display bugs, then I'm not surprised you get consistently good results. However, your apparent absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Re: "NEVER, NEVER . . . seen LC working on various forms of ...

Re: Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles
richmond62: "used LiveCode on both Linux and MacOS for something like 20 years across 1, 2 and 3 monitors without any obvious problems at all" You've been lucky. I've used LC on Macs for ~10 years on several generations of Mac hardware and software. LC always has had this multiple monitor bug, and i...

Re: Player won't stop playing file, with 'wait' seconds
Simply put, is there a way to Stop or Pause and then Resume an audio player (not an audioclip) using a standard LC 'button'? It seems I must use the "wait x seconds with messages" to enable the stop/pause/play/resume buttons—otherwise the user interface buttons are deliberately frozen; it's not asyn...

Re: Player won't stop playing file, with 'wait' seconds
Thanks, but "without waiting" only works with the move and send to program commands according to the LC Dictionary. In this case I'm dealing with an audio player.

Re: Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles
And I have used LC for ~10 years on many different MacOS versions and hardware and have never been able to use more than one monitor without many crashes/freezes and a host of frustrating anomalies—unless under special circumstances as described below. I was tempted to qualify my initial post but fo...

Re: Current IDE Oddities and Obstacles
When will LC get around to fixing the IDE so that we can use multiple monitors? Most professional programmers that I know use 2 or more screens, with the code and various other IDE components on separate screens. This has been a serious bug in LC for many years and caused me numerous LC crashes and ...

Player won't stop playing file, with 'wait' seconds
I'm creating an LC program which allows me to listen to a sequence of songs or podcasts in a folder, and when I hear an audio file playing that I wish to save as a favorite, I can click a button to have it moved into a separate folder of favorites. I usually know within the first 20 seconds of play ...
