Re: New M1 CPU & LC
Well, that all sounds reasonable. And enlightening. I didn't even know that the Mac users still comprised LC's largest user base, even though it figures because it started on the Mac. I asked because, on the PC side, app makers and developers are anxious to announce their compatibility with new arch...

Re: New M1 CPU & LC
I suppose the inevitable question then is "When, if ever, will there be a native Apple M version of LiveCode?"FourthWorld wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 8:56 amApple provides a compatibility layer which should run LC well.

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment
I tried the old commercial server on the Mac because it already works just fine. I was going to try it on my present Windows web server out of desperation, since none of the Community versions would work, but I decided against it for the reasons you mention. Still, as proof of concept it might still...

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment
I went back to my version 5.5 LC commercial server and found those version 6 notes you mentioned. I thought it was me. All the versions after that were for the IDE. That made no sense but I figured it was an "inside" thing. There are some detailed setup instructions in those notes which undoubtedly ...

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment
Matthias Thanks so much for the response. I've literally never seen some of this code before so it looks promising and obviously has the advantage of having been tested. I cut and paste to avoid the possibility of error, restarted Apache many times and yet still no luck. Unlike with previous attempt...

Re: POLL: LiveCode Server deployment
I'd like to be using LC server right now, except I can't get it to work. I'm using USBWebServer on Windows 10 Pro 64. I tried setup via .htaccess and http.conf in all the variations I could read about. I have an old commercial version running on my Mac (5.5) but I've set up a Community version (9.6)...

Re: Date and Time Picker Control
Huge thanks to BvG for hitting the nail on the head. This is one of those 'must-have' controls you would figure everyone would want to have added to the LiveCode toolbox. Big thanks to Richh for going out of his way to find the exact right hammer for this particular nail. Even though you posted this...

Re: Setting focus to a Data Grid
That is what fun is all about. But I am still puzzled by your puzzlement. You select a cell in Excel by clicking on that cell. You do EXACTLY the same with either a DG or a table field. So then what is this all about: Still, I'd like to be able to select and enter the table field via the keyboard. ...

Re: Setting focus to a Data Grid
Just saw your latest post, which crossed mine in the mail. A table field is just a field. But it contains the ability to create and overlay an ephemeral editable field that is sized and located dynamically on top of the "cell" where one clicks. Once its job is done, it populates the underlying cell...

Re: Setting focus to a Data Grid
Still, I'd like to be able to select and enter the table field via the keyboard. Do you mean do this, in a button script: on mouseUp click at "118,228" end mouseUp This will open the phantom field, and you can start typing right away. This issue is knowing where to click. A table field can respond ...

Re: Setting focus to a Data Grid
Hi. If you want headers and such, you are probably going to have to use a DG. I have one comment. Since I am lazy, I try to stay out of the DG API as much as possible. I do this by extracting the entire contents of the DG with either the dgText or the dgData, do all my massaging back in good ol' LC...

Re: Simple DB app
I was thinking about making this month's LCG session on building a simple DB app in LC anyway, so keep the thoughts going... Mikey I just saw this and wondered what it was about. I never heard of an "LCG session". I'm guessing this stands for "Live Code Group". If this is so, is this an interactive...

Re: Setting focus to a Data Grid
Richard suggests table fields. I like table fields. But you have to massage a new table field before it is stable. See this: http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31452&p=170731&hilit=correctly#p170731 Once properly set up, these fields are very easy to use. Craig Richard I'm going to addr...

Re: Setting focus to a Data Grid
Michael says that I said: To clarify dunbarx's answer, when he says, "one must create a suite of fields in order for the DG to create and name them", that doesn't mean *you* must create any fields, the DG creates all the fields it needs automatically. It is the nature of DG's that they create and d...

Re: Setting focus to a Data Grid
This should go a long way in advancing my goal of having a simple ledger app that you could just edit as a list like a spreadsheet. Ugh, *I'm* writing a simple ledger app that you can edit like a spreadsheet! I just helped my competitor! Oh well, I guess I'll have to compete on price. There are man...
