Re: Select Col.name from table

You really shouldn't have extra spaces in your statements. Your create table statement has them in front of the column name and I've had that cause me lots of trouble. I'll take your word on that, when I wrote this initially in Rb (um, about 10 to 12 years ago), It was the first time I had touched ...

Re: Select Col.name from table

"revdberr,Database Error: near "Summary": syntax error" is what happened here. Curious, I thought at the very least you needed the comma as a delimiter in sql statements? Cast and Summary are two separate fields in the table. tableFields.png I should probably add that this is all taking place here i...

Re: Select Col.name from table

You asked :P Keep in mind, I am migrating this program code from Realbasic to Lc, so this is the first time I'm poking about db's in Lc. The code is neither pretty nor even very nice at this point in my learning. The error returned when the statement is formatted like your example, whether spaces or...

Re: Select Col.name from table

I didn't think I did either, but when I entered it as in your code example, it failed completely? Maybe I need to try it from a fresh project.

Select Col.name from table

I am having a bit of trouble working through a db query. The db is sqlite. This line gives me all the information asked for - put "SELECT (Title),(Year),(Format),(Summary) FROM Movies" into tmpSql and puts it neatly into the datagrid, however if I then add Cast - put "SELECT (Title),(Year),(Format),...

Re: Seriously no sound on linux ?

Thank you for the testing and sorry for the typo. I've indeed installed 16.04 LTS 32 bits. No problems :D You can do sound on linux, although I am unsure exactly why it varies from distro to distro. My guess would be it is due to the various distro's using different things for sound, just like diff...

The thumbSize of a horizontal scrollbar determines
how LONG the thumb of the scrollbar is.
My bad, I thought that was what he was trying to change. Yah, rolling your own is the only way I know of then.

On a scrollbar, it is the thumbsize your looking to change I am pretty sure.

Re: Seriously no sound on linux ?

LOL. I am sad to report that 10.04 LTS is a no go here. While I was able to install it, I had no way to update it or get the necessary libs to even attempt an install of Lc. too bad, so sad :P Ah well, the next oldest I had available was Linux Mint 13 (Maya), which is based on Ubuntu 12.04. This is ...

Re: Seriously no sound on linux ?

As for installing LiveCode 7.1.4 on Linux, it failed on Ubuntu 16 with an error: "Installer slave quit unexpectedly.". I was quite enthousiastic with LiveCode a week ago. it's an understatement to say that LC is not up to its promises on Linux. Well, following my post below this one, I started off ...

Re: Seriously no sound on linux ?

Not sure why you would have a problem installing any Lc version down to 6 on Ubuntu, but I will dl U16 and test it out tonight with a fresh install and Lc 7.1.4. I'm currently in Linux Mint 'betsy', but have installed Lc on just about every type of linux version there is with little to no trouble. W...

Re: Seriously no sound on linux ?

I dunno, when I read that, it seems like it either works (MaxV) or doesn't (mweider, Richard). If it works on one system, then you are down to what is missing on other systems, not that it doesn't work in 8. I agree with the sentiment above Al's in that thread at the end, though, I think instead of ...
