Re: Furniture

I don't think anythings 'missing' per se, I think he is saying that the working screenRect and effective working screenRect are reporting the same dimensions.

Re: How to share buttons and fields across cards

For the controls you want to show up on every card, you want to group them, then click the 'sharedBackground' property of the group.

Re: Furniture

Erm, yes, quite that Jacque :D In fact, I used that very code when creating the visual layout for this dialog, then scaled everything so that the pictures would show fairly correctly (the application size would look like that on screen for the size given). Re: About LiveCode

I don't work in the newer IDEs enough to really contribute to this discussion other than to say one reason I don't is that, much as Sparkout points out, 7x seemed to be the end of a really great series to me. The flow and speed of the IDE always works much faster (I'll add the qualifier "on my machi...

Re: Furniture

I think what your missing is the "effective" word, as in effective working screenRect.

One paragraph lower than your quote it says
Adding the effective adjective to either form returns the area of the screen the application has to itself.

Re: Simple DB app

I thought of mentioning the sampler stack (Resources Icon on the toolbar -> Databases -> SQLite), but that doesn't include handling inserting pictures unless you go the binary route. There is also the SQLite CRUD demo (in this "CRUD SQLite example" thread in the forums posted by townsend) which demo...

Re: Icon in Taskbar

This is just a guess, but I wonder if they mean in the system tray of the taskbar. As you say, a button should show automatically in the taskbar itself on launch of the program.

I hope they pop back into clarify.

Re: Simple DB app

Hello Tom :) I know your not looking to program it yourself, but I believe I came across such a simple program already done, if I come across it again, I'll post the location to it and you can see if it fits your needs. The main problem I was chiming in about here though is that you are new to this ...

Somehow, I don't think that the people who use it professionally for their livelihood would agree with your assessment, brotee.

Re: A ton of stacks got attached to my one stack - how do I get rid of them all?

I think you may have found a bug that started apparently in the 8.x series. Prior to that, unless you had 'show ide in lists' checked, you didn't see the ide stacks in that box. I did confirm that regardless of the setting (on linux, anyway) you do see them in 8.1.4 up if you leave the property insp...

Re: scrollbars and placing more controls than the page allows

You do not need scrollbars at all, since they can be distracting. I'm assuming that you mean aside from the ones that grouping normally provides in this instance, since scrollbars would be the expected behavior to get to the other parts of the form hidden by the grouping. In the group, and for a fo...
