Re: Where are the newbies?

I echo Xero's words of praise for the forum. In particular, the effect of this thread has been to get me back into using the Community version. Right now, my use of LiveCode is to learn LiveCode - that is, I put together a stack where I can take notes and set down some actual LC demonstrations of wh...

Re: Where are the newbies?

I probably count as one of those newbies who has gone, so I thought I might chip in. As a hobbyist programmer, I gave up on LiveCode when the pricing came in. The alternative I settled on to fill that Livecode-shaped hole was Xojo. I like their pricing. I paid (I think) £90 for single-platform. The ...

Re: TinyIDE v1.4 released

hi Andy, one other thing I've just come across... A lot of items in the TinyIDE "Object" and "Text" menus are greyed out, which they are not in the original menu. E.g. Delete card, New card, View Card/Stack script, the Group/Ungroup commands. The keyboard shortcuts still work, e.g. ctrl-N creates a ...

Re: TinyIDE v1.4 released

I tried unchecking all the tool palettes but TinyIDE won't let me: "No tools selected, you must select at least one option." However - just checking and unchecking one of the three palettes (don't think it mattered which one) did produce the desired effect and the tool buttons now appeared. Of cours...

Re: TinyIDE v1.4 released

Yes of course! That was it. Failed to read the instructions. Have now copied the behaviours folder to the appropriate place and the buttons all work as they should. However... buttons in the Tool Bar still disappear from time to time. Also, there are only two of them - Standard Button and Checkbox. ...

Re: TinyIDE v1.4 released

hi Andy, I've just been trying out TinyIDE and have been having some problems. This is on Windows 7 and using LC 9.5. When I run TinyIDE, the main IDE menubar is still present, with the TinyIDE one underneath. I'm assuming TinyIDE is meant to replace the regular menubar? Possibly connected with this...

Thanks Bogs, strange to say I had never noticed those options before, I will try them out.

Re: Livecode 9.0.1 Community for Windows IDE stuttering

To clarify - I'm not talking about "speed" in the how-many-ticks-a-loop-takes sense. (Just mentioning this in the context of the talk there's been about comparing different LC versions in that sense of "speed"). I mean just speed of typing within the IDE. Other people have mentioned slowness in the ...

Re: Livecode 9.0.1 Community for Windows IDE stuttering

I'll throw in my own experience here for what it's worth, to confirm what those above and on other threads have said. Using 9.01 stable, Community, on Windows 7 and 8 variously. Slow downs mainly experienced in script editor, message box and dictionary, to the point of unusability. This has not just...

Re: Changing size of images in groups

Locking the size doesn't prevent you from either manually resizing the images or doing it through code, which, while I'm sure you know this, is being stated for others that might not but come along later  well... but setting lockLoc = true would stop me manually resizing it, wouldn't it? In t...

Re: Changing size of images in groups

Thanks Klaus! You know in the back of my mind I know this is how you have to do it, yet I always seem to hope to find a way round it.

It feels particularly aggravating somehow when you're working with a group and trying to get everything arranged as you want it.

Changing size of images in groups

hi, I have created a group made up of various images. I have made changes to the original dimensions of these images. However as soon as I place them into the group, they snap back to their original size. Also any changes I make to them while in the group, don't stick - as soon as I come out of "Edi...

Re: What is old is new again...

Can I put in a few words on this topic as a newcomer to LiveCode -- no longer an absolute beginner but still taking my first steps. My reaction on seeing what LC 2.x had to offer by way of help and tutorials was "wow that's amazing" and "if only that was available in current LiveCode". And a feeling...
