Re: What does single-stack mean?

Yes, that's what I thought, but being relatively new to livecode I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks.

What does single-stack mean?

Hi folks,

I have been doing a bit of fiddling with v8 dp4 using firefox (I cannot get python v3 to do it's thing yet). I have a single stack with a few cards, however, I cannot move from card to card. Is that what single stack means - single stack with single card?

Thanks,
Hilton.

Re: Slow swapping from card to card[found reason]

Hi Folks, I have found out how to transfer the datagrid substack to the new mainstack thanks. I can now cleanly transfer everything from one mainstack to another which helps if things get bloated. I will now keep an eye on the file size and if I can see it growing I will do as Craig suggested. Bye, ...

Re: Slow swapping from card to card[found reason]

Hi folks, Yes Craig you are quite correct. After I have got the answer to the next question from you folks I will do as you suggest - thanks. Richard, I do not know because all I did was copy each card from the bloated mainstack to the new mainstack. However, during my copying stuff from old to new ...

Re: Slow swapping from card to card[found reason]

Hi folks, I have found out what the problem is but not the cause. Funny how things happen - I was fast asleep last night when the answer came to me. I remembered I had this problem once before plus some corruption problems with the early versions of version 7. I also remembered the work around. I ke...

Slow swapping from card to card[found reason]

livecode versions: 7.0.5 & 7.0.6 Hi Folks, I seem to constantly run into speed problems with lc in the windows environment. As my app grows so the speed decreases. I have 15 cards 6 of which are libraries of functions and things like a calendar picker and time picker and behaviours. From a user pers...

Re: How to scroll a card from top to bottom??

put tDate into theDataA[ 1 ][ "date" ]
If I understand the code, the index needs to change for each line else it will overwrite. You need to have

Code: Select all

put tDate into theDataA[ 1 ][ "date" ]
put tDate into theDataA[ 2 ][ "date" ]
put tDate into theDataA[ 3 ][ "date" ]
etc....

Re: Speed of moving from Card to Card

Richard, Yes I always have the project manager open. Unfortunately, I am too inexperienced to comment on your idea. All I know is that everything is fast and working well. As I said apart from a few corruptions which I was able to locate and fix all is well in both my apps and running fast on both W...

Re: Speed of moving from Card to Card

Hi Richard, I checked the original app I wrote (not the one referred to before) and whilst it was slow in the IDE about 4secs to change a card it was not impossible, I noticed that the lc file was 20Mb. I followed the previous procedure and the file size reduced to 1.2mb and the speed is pretty good...

Re: Speed of moving from Card to Card

Hi Richard, Subsequent to my previous post, during testing I noticed that the new lc file was corrupted in that field labels disappeared or were replaced by results from the related edit field. At this point in time I have not found anything else wrong, however testing continues. As for your questio...

Re: Speed of moving from Card to Card[SOLVED]

Hi Folks, I have at last found out what was causing the slow swapping of cards. In the IDE it has gone from 13seconds down to less than 1sec. I started learning with v7.0.3 rc and it was buggy and caused corruptions. On Jacque's advice I went back to v6.7 (or whatever) and the speed was bearable. I ...

Re: Speed of moving from Card to Card

Good Morning everyone, The app is a relatively simple Estimating and Job Costing system for small contractors and builders. For each topic(eg Vendors, Customers, Estimates etc) it generally consists of a datagrid listing items in the topic (eg customers) and a related details group which contains th...

Re: Speed of moving from Card to Card

Hi folks, Over the past number of weeks I have (at Jacque's suggestion) been using v6.7 and things were ok. I wanted to keep up to date and so moved to v7.0.4 and generally speaking all is fine with the exception of moving from card to card. At present in the IDE it takes about 8 seconds to move to ...

Re: Move mobileControl not to be covered by keyboard

Hi, This is probably not very elegant but it works on Android. I add a label "lblKeyboard" to the bottom of the card that extends beyond the physical space of the screen. This allows the screen to scroll. Then in the field I want to jump up above the keyboard I put the code below on openField local ...
