Re: Unattractive UI

It is very neat scrolling and typically mobile. If I had a choice, I would love to use it. Not wishing to appear ungrateful, I am not prepared to end up with 2 versions, desktop & mobile. My concern is changing the control borders from a broad black line to a fine line, better still, also in a pleas...

Re: Unattractive UI

Buttons are easy, it is the awful black frames around fields and scroll bars. I wasn't able to change much, just the background. The interface is far from finished, obviously, but not much scope as you see in this android screen shot. The look I was hoping for. Screen 1.JPG What I ended up with. Scr...

Unattractive UI

I have just produced an APK to see how things fit and work on the phone screen and I was shocked at the appearance. It looks normal in Windows, the grey scroll bars and field areas are dreadful in Android. I have coloured the background and decided on white, but I can't see how the controls can be r...

Creates APK but will not install - Why?

First, I can install an earlier version of my project. Obviously the Java & Google thingies + the developer mode on the phone work fine. I tried several other apps written by others that feature a few of the code items that might be present in my project, but none of them install either. Other apps ...

Image in text and variables

As part of my project, I can put images in with the text in a text field. At the moment, everything is being done in a test stack for ease of working. I simply use this code to get and place the picture. To acquire the picture I use this. on mouseup local tHeight, twidth, NewWth, NewHt, Ratio, tempv...

Re: A link conundrum

The complete stack I attached earlier, a couple of posts up) is the final, working solution.

Re: A link conundrum

The final result of the challenge is in the attached ZIP
I tidied it up and made it so some other newbie can copy and paste the field, button and the scripts into their own project.

It is quite easy to follow I believe and I hope you find it interesting / useful.

Re: A link conundrum

Jmburnod, I think you are on the right lines here. Very imaginative. Your my kinda guy.
I see no actual downside to your idea, because once the link is created and correct, it won't need to change. Brilliant...

Re: A link conundrum

Hi, Craig. The act of adding or removing a link by touch or click of it prevents the option of clicking on it to run it. Adding the url code is fine, but how can you click on the link to run it if so doing removes or adds it. That is the problem here. Quailcreek, this text is not static or predictab...

A link conundrum

I have been adding the facility of links to my project. The experimental code below works fine in the text field it is attached to when I want to create a link or remove an existing one. In so doing, I have no way to actually click and run the link. How is this typically done? on mouseup select the ...

Server loop avoidance.

From experts advice here on the Forum, and what I have read on the subject, constant cycling of an idle looping server slows down everything else running on that computer. No doubt someone has a better idea than this, or has invented it already, but what do you think? My server could just do one pas...

Re: SVG icons

Thank you, I understand. I am familiar with vector graphics.
It seemed like the bar they were in had particular significance.

SVG icons

I wonder what the point of SVG icons are.
Why are they better than simple images used as buttons?
I have tried reading up on them, and tried to use them, but it seems more trouble than they are worth.
Obviously, I am missing something.
